Update: I was able to return the unit and a new one arrived to replace it in one day. The new unit is fully assembled and working fine. One feature not mentioned in the product description is that the unit will measure your battery voltage and charge level without it being plugged in which is very convenient. I can quickly check if I need to trickle charge or not. Updated the rating from 3 to 5 stars. Original: Seems to work okay as described. However, it came with one of the two screws holding the handle on off and rattling around on the inside of the housing. I’m not sure if that represents a safety hazard if the loose screw shorts something out or not. For this amount of money I don’t expect to have to disassemble the housing, find the missing screw and then attach the handle completely. Right now I have one screw holding the handle on.

Sturdy well made unit, easy to use and easy to read display. I needed a 24 v smart charger with repair feature to try to resurrect my neighbors brand new 6x8v (48v) golf cart batteries they spent $1800 on just last year. They accidentally left the charger unplugged during the winter and 4 of the 6 batteries were reporting <1v and two were in the 1.9-2.7v range. Not good as most chargers will not detect a circuit and start charging if it’s under 3v. Definitely won’t work under 1v. But this unit did it!! I connected positive clip to first battery and negative clip to third battery in series to complete the 1st of two 24v banks and used the repair feature to bring all three batteries up to 8.35v each. It balanced them perfectly even though they were not individually charged. I did the same for the 2nd bank of 3 (batteries 3-6) and once they came up to 8v each, I was able to switch over to the golf cart’s smart charger. This thing saved the day and $1650 dollars! Great battery charger so far. Easy to use. The only complaint I have is the thickness of the coating on the wires. All electronics are now using this thin crap so I guess us consumers just need to get used to it. Things just aren’t built to last or built the way they used to be. It all comes down to the CEO’s using cheaper materials

In general, I like the charger. I have a two year-old battery that I let this charger charge for an entire day and the display said it only got to 30% but when using the battery, it did really well like it had charged to 100%. My old battery charger had a setting for starting the car immediately and I miss that.

Bought this charger after my car wouldn’t start on a freezing morning. Hooked it up in the garage and within a couple of hours, my battery was back to life. Super easy to use—even for someone who’s not mechanically inclined.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I chose this charger/maintainer because of the features and the good reviews. There were a few bad reviews but there always are and I weighed the good against the bad and it seemed to be worth it. What a mistake. I charged my truck's battery with it (it died due to lack of use. I usually only use the truck when I need four-wheel drive or to pull the boat) and it seemed to work fine. That was good, so I decided to use the battery maintainer function. What a mistake. Followed all the instructions. It worked ok for two days and on the third day I heared a big bang from the garage (its a detached garage about 60 feet from the house). Went in there to find a sour and ozone smell. The charger was reading "battery charged 100%", and there was liquid leaking onto the floor of my garage. I unpluged everything and checked out what had happened. The charger had over charged the battery and had actually caused it to explode (see photos). There was battery acid sprayed on the inside of the engine compartment (fortunately RAM trucks have a fabric pad covering the battery so the damage was limited) but all the acid needed to ne neutrilized and cleaned up. I will be sending this unit back for a refund and dare not use it or anything from this company again. It's just too dangerous. The one thing that I find kind of amazing is that it managed to destroy every cell of that bettery. It wasn't just a single cell that exploded. It was compleatly destroyed. Buyer beware!
