The spacing is designed for 16" on center studs. Unfortunately, you'll only be able to get a screw in one stud on each end, the others will have to be plastic anchors in drywall & the furnished screws/anchors are not nearly substantial enough. Got what I paid for, I guess, I wasn't expecting much for $11. Textured grip is not like the photo implies, it's barely perceivable, won't help much. It arrived slightly dented but I put it up anyway.
