I own a handyman service that does a couple of grab bar installs per years, usually in bathrooms and often inside the shower. These grab bars are fairly unusual in that the bars are thinner than typical and include a very grippy rubber section in the center. I actually prefer this design to the typical oversized bar with just a matte finish to provide grip. The rubber grip design provides a more secure grip, especially for small hands and especially in a wet area like a shower. The hardware supplied with the bars is fairly typical, which is to say it's good quality, except for the supplied wall anchors, which are shockingly poor for the task of securing a grab bar. The only thing worse than no grab bar is a grab bar that looks secure, but isn't and gives way when you need it most. Please (please!) throw the supplied plastic anchors in the trash where they belong and spend a couple of dollars at your local hardware store to get some proper anchors capable of supporting the load of a full size human. A common brand of anchor made specifically for securing grab bars is WingIt's, which can support a surprising load with confidence. ... show more

These bathroom grab bars are great and offer much better stability as well as safety when properly installed and as compared to ones using suction cups. Installation can be a bit challenging depending on the material and area the grabs bars are to be placed. For tiles, you'll need a diamond drill bit that can drill through the tiles without shattering them, however, once installed they be extremely strong and sturdy. This grab bar is great that it also has rubberized handles allowing better gripping and not being slippery. Would definitely recommend this grab bar to anyone in need of one. ... show more

I did not use these in a bathroom but in my attic access. I have a hatch in a closet ceiling and use a step ladder to access the attic. I open the hatch and grab onto the 2x4 roof trusses to pull myself up. I installed these on either side of the opening onto the roof trusses. Now I have a firm, easier to grab handle that makes access much easier. They do have a strong smell to the rubber but in the attic, that doesn't matter much. These are a necessity for anyone who is getting into their 50s/60s. It just makes balancing in the shower so much easier. They blend well with my shower tiles (which are mostly white with gray marbling) and were easy to install. I wouldn't say that they necessarily add anything to the overall aesthetic, but they don't detract from it either because they blend in so well. Nice item! ... show more

See before and after pics. These bars save space, are more "user-friendly" and more attractive than the traditional mobile tubular frame that we have been using. Installation was not too difficult - instructions said fasten at least two of the three holes in each bracket - with a little planning, you should be able to use all 3 of the holes, just make sure to rotate/position the bracket before drilling the holes and confirm the bar doesn't block your screwdriver access. Speaking of instructions - THESE ARE LOUSY. The font size is so small I had real difficulty reading the text even with a magnifying glass. Even worse, the instructions (see highlight), say "Insert bar into wall". What bar? There were no "bars" in the parts bag. Are they referring to a drywall anchor? Nothing in their supplied parts even resembled the image shown. If the vendor's instructions are missing, inadequate, too small to read or just plain wrong, there's no 5 star possibility. ... show more

Got these to place next to the tub for my grandma. She's a higher fall risk when trying to step over the sidewall of the tub-shower, so these are a nice sturdy handhold to assist. Once you find the wall stud, it's a straightforward install. I really like the addition of the rubber grip, as it helps when holding to prevent a wet hand from slipping on the handle.
