This magnifying glass with light and stand is heavier than I expected. It seems to be of good quality and having the magnifying capability, as well as the light is great. The base stand is pretty heavy, but it's not heavy enough when you're trying to move the different sections of the arm and light/magnifying glass around. It just doesn't stay flat on the table. The clamp, however, has been very helpful, and moving the arms and lens is no problem when using the clamp. The light has ranges for both brightness and color temperature, like from warm to cool colors. I mainly got this for reading, because my eyes are transitioning right now, making small print harder to read sometimes. So, when I'm going through mail, or I have to read directions on a medicine bottle, and it's one of my "off" days, I can just swing the lamp over, turn on the light, and read away. I know this would be good for anything that you would need help seeing, like crafts, repairing items with small pieces, painting small items, etc., so it's versatile and very useful. At least in my case, however, only when I have a good place to clamp it because using the base, it basically has to be stationary. So, I would recommend for use with the clamp, but with the base, not so much.

Base is not heavy enough to support the magnifying glass with the arm extended. The clamp works better, but you can't always use the clamp. The glass and light work fine.

I really appreciate having both the stand and the clamp options for this light/magnifying glass. I've noticed my eyesight isn't what it used to be as I'm working on tiny scale model furniture or trying to seam rip delicate fabric, and this has made my life much easier. I appreciate the versatility of the lamp with the different color modes and being able to control the brightness of the lamp, and the pivot points are easily adjusted as well. It's a lightweight lamp and has proven extremely valuable in my various craft projects.

This light is fantastic for spots where you need some light and magnification. This lamp has both adjustable color temperature and brightness, and (unlike many lamps I have had) this one uses hard switches so it keeps its settings if it's unplugged and then plugged back in. This means you can use it on a power supply with a switch, if desired. You control the color temperature (about 2700K to 5000K) with the switch on the top of the lamp head that says "-CCT+" (CCT for Correlated Color Temperature). The lower end (-) will be lower Kelvin temperatures and warmer light, while the higher end (+) will be higher Kelvin temperatures and cooler light with balanced temperatures in the middle. The brightness is controlled with a dimmer knob, which doesn't have marked increments and which does work sort of loosey-goosily with most of the adjustments happening in the middle third of the knob. The range starts at 0% with a click, so this is effectively the on/off switch, too, unless you unplug. The adjustment arm is fairly sturdy and very stable with knobs that can be turned to tighten/loosen each of the joints. It has two different bases -- either a flat base or a clamp -- and the clamp has better stability than the flat base, which will not anchor it very well if it is adjusted to the ends of its angles of reach, if that makes sense. If you're using this is a spot where you need the full range of motion but you can't clamp it down in that spot, I would recommend using a sandbag or other weight. You might also have some success with an adhesive mount, but I favor temporary solutions for more flexibility.
