  • Will probably buy another
Just got it up. Earlier this week. Battery draw seems minimal. Set up is quick and easy. Display quality is a little sharp but still very clear in 1080 and 4k. Buttons and housing are pretty cheap plastic. Includes two mounting options. I went for the traditional strap seeing as it was going on a pine. As far as longevity of this camera only time will tell but so far I am very satisfied with this cameral overall for the price point. ... show more

  • It is cheap.
For the price, it is not terrible, but compared to a high end trail cam, which will cost more, it is okay. You are not going to get the image quality in the ad for this cam, those were likely taken by pros with cameras that cost thousands, but if you are just looking to see what hangs out around your place when you aren't out, this is just fine. There is no 4K vid on this cam, but it is no matter, we can't see in 4K anyway. The antique transfer USB cable is useless in that the transfer rate is agonizingly slow, but most of the western world quit using those 20 years ago. The video is recorded in AVI, the card is good, and you get 4 batteries for an 8 battery compartment. It will run on 4, but not long. It does have a 6v input, for I guess, a solar panel. I figure this cam will last a couple of years with occasional use, maybe a year with regular use. We'll see. ... show more

  • Good quality and reliable
UPDATED 2-14-2025: They are the best I've owned compared to over a dozen other models I've used and/or tested over the years. Works great day and night. Consistent workhorse and better than expected battery life. Have been using two for over a year to monitor wildlife activity and just purchased my third. The only Achilles heal is fog/condensation but sometimes I can still figure out type of animal. Another positive is that they have designed this so that even though it holds a micro SD, you still have enough sticking out to eject. I've owned other trail cameras that were impossible to eject. This company is excellent. ... show more

  • Garbage, regret buying it
UPDATE: After five months running it, I've set this camera up about 9 or 10 times and let it run. It has worked correctly maybe two of those times, and the photo quality when it has worked has been awful. In most cases, it has taken anywhere from 2 to 10 pictures and then stopped. Sometimes, it will just get me walking away from it and nothing else, when I've watched animals walk in front of it, and I've walked in front of it again myself. Sometimes, you don't even get that. I've tried every suggestion and every trick that I've learned in nearly 30 years of running trail cams, and this thing is just garbage. I regret buying it. I've owned and used a lot of trail cameras over the years, going back to the 35mm days in the mid-1990s. This one definitely isn't the worst that I've owned, but the quality is more akin to cameras that I owned a couple of generations back than the ones I use today. I was looking for a less expensive option than my current preferred brand, which costs about twice what this Vikeri costs, and I saw quite a few very good video reviews of it online, so I decided to give it a shot. The camera arrived nicely packaged. On removing it from the box, I thought the construction of the case and the latches seemed to be of a lower quality than my other cams, but that's to be expected at this price point. On the positive side, the seal around the door seemed to actually be better than my current cams, which was a big plus since I was buying it to replace a camera that had been ruined by moisture. The first surprise that I ran into is that this camera uses a micro-SD card, so if you have standard SD cards for your other cameras, be prepared for that. It does come with a cheap no-name 32gb to get you started. The second thing you need to know is that the camera is finicky with the formatting. On the first card run, the data on it would not read on any of my devices. I reformatted the card in my computer, but when I put it in the camera, it said the SD was invalid and had to format again. I accidentally moved the switch to off instead of on after that, and when I turned it back on, it again told me the SD card needed to be formatted, even though I had just formatted it in the camera seconds earlier. The menu is not completely intuitive, but not awful either. I did notice that on the setup screen, it always says the camera is in video mode, even when you have it in photo mode. I was worried about that, but it worked according to my settings rather than what it said. I also suspect the screen will not last long, as only a week into owning the camera, I'm already seeing some distorted lines along the top and bottom in the menu mode. The bracket that mounts the camera is also a little strange. Rather than running the straps through part of the camera body like others I own, there's a plastic bracket on the back of it, rounded to fit the tree. It probably works well if you use the straps to mount directly to the tree, but I use screw-in mounts, and the way that it's positioned makes it awkward and bulky for that. Finally, there's the picture quality. Daytime pictures are not bad, but night pics are pretty awful. They're very grainy and distorted compared to my other cams. Part of that can be attributed to the no-glow flash which never has the quality of IR flash, but I don't think that's the complete issue. Ultimately, I guess, you get what you pay for. If you're looking for a budget camera just to show you what's in the woods, this will probably work for you (though I do have concerns about how long it will last, especially the screen which is already giving me problems a week in). If you prefer higher quality pictures, especially at night, I'd look elsewhere. ... show more

  • Great value!
Arrived on time and just as described. This is my second one and it works great. The SD card is a mini-card, very small and hard to handle.
