This is not the review I had planed to write a few weeks ago. I had an issue with my scooter's brakes in less than 90 days from the date of purchase and it took some back and forth negotiating over a week or two because of the time delays in the Amazon messaging system but Volpam stood behind it and resolved my issue. I had planned to leave a negative review but their customer service was excellent and I have to give them credit for that in a day and age when most companies just want your money. I bought the 500watt motor and this was my second scooter, the first being a 350 watt. I definitely would tell a new buyer to start smaller as it was a great opportunity to learn to ride and gain a good comfort level. The first time I got on this one and gave it some power, it toook off with force that the 350 didn't have and I was happy to know how to respond. First and foremost, however, is you NEED a helmet. I was hit on my first scooter as we were both coming to a stop sign and going about 5 miles per hour. I sustained a pretty nasty head injury in the fall and it could have been avoided by wearing a helmet. As a 50-something year old guy you would think I would know better but I still thought I was invincible and didn't need one. Now I won't leave home without it. And simply put, travelling 22 mph on asphalt without a helmet is just plain a bad idea. I chose one that has a rechargable rear light that flashes in several modes but Amazon has some really cool ones that had LED displays, turn signals, blue tooth, and even ones that have crash detection and can call for help and give your coordinates. The 500 watt scooter has good power, excellent battery life, feels sturdy, and is a good value for the price. I recently moved to an area with a lot of hills and it even handles those pretty well although it does slow down to about 11 MPH on some of the steepest ones. I'm 5'11, 200# and it is capable of easily acheiving 22mph on flat terrain. The last thing I would add is check the laws in your state. Here in CA you can't ride on the sidewalk and if I read it right, you are supposed to stay below 6mph around pedestrians. There are several other laws in the cal vehicle code relating to scooters and you can actually be ticketed for speeding on them if you violate the CVC. Happy riding!

I bought this scooter mainly for commuting, and honestly it has made my daily routine so much easier. I used to walk about 15 minutes to the train station every morning and evening. It doesn’t sound like much, but doing it every day gets tiring. In the summer I would already be sweating by the time I got to the station, and in the winter the cold wind made it unpleasant. Now with this scooter, that walk is only a quick 2–3 minute ride, and I don’t arrive at the station already worn out. It saves me time, lets me leave the house a little later in the morning, and in the evening I get home faster. That alone has been worth it. The scooter itself feels very solid. Acceleration is smooth, not jerky, so it was easy to get used to. The brakes respond quickly, which gives me confidence when stopping at intersections or in crowded areas. Battery life is also quite reliable—I only need to charge it about twice a week for my daily short trips, and I’ve never had it die on me unexpectedly. Folding it up is quick and simple, and carrying it onto the train isn’t a problem. It doesn’t take up much space, which makes it practical for commuting. The solid tires do make it a bit bumpy on rough pavement, but the upside is that I don’t have to worry about flats or pumping air. That tradeoff feels worth it because I’d rather have peace of mind than deal with a flat tire on the way to work. I also use it beyond commuting. On weekends, I’ll fold it into the trunk and bring it to the park to ride around. Sometimes I take it for short trips to the grocery store or to a friend’s place nearby.

6’2 270 pounds. Usually carry a backpack with about 10 pounds of weight. Scooter has solid power and I have no issues on flat or slight inclines. On hills it will still do 10-12 mph. Strep hills I help it along but it does a good job staying at 7-8mph. I use it for 10 mile round trips pretty consistently and that uses a little more than half the battery. Good size for bigger folks but I would get something bigger if I were any bigger. Easy assembly out of the box. The app connects and gives you great data like a trip, temps and speed. This was my first scooter and overall I’m very happy with it.
