If you have a pool, you probably ought to have one of these on hand. We had a problem with our pool last summer while we were away, and it looked like a science experiment gone haywire. After fighting with trying to clear up the water, I came to the conclusion that the only practical way to fix things was to do a complete drain and refill. This is when I found out that draining your pool using the filter pump takes a very long time, and that there's no guarantee that it will even be able to pump all the water out through the main drain. Pool pumps are designed to primarily suck water via the skimmer, which takes much less power than to pull water all the way up through the main drain. This pump drained my pool in a few hours, pushing the water through 100' of 2" pool drain hose. Even if my pool pump was able to completely drain the pool via the main drain (it can't), it would have taken much longer. The pump came in handy again when I needed to clean out our newly resurrected hot tub that the previous owner left behind. It drained the water much faster than the hot tub would have drained through the gravity feed drain. If you have a pool and/or a spa, this is one of those things you ought to have in your arsenal. This pump is AWESOME!!!! I needed to drain my 20,000 gallon pool. This pump drained more than half my pool in 4 hours. Easy to setup and use - - great water flow. I rarely write any amazon reviews but this little pump was worth every penny!!

Overall, I liked the pump but it is designed for sump crocks that are 36+ inches deep. Not your standard home crocks. I had o cut the float switch cord and add 20" to it then secure it to the bottom of the crock. If you are not a tradesman or versed in plumbing or electrical, there are better choices out there. Not a DYI replacement. UPDATE- The Seller was very understanding and treated me extremely well. I would recommend them. ... show more

This baby PUMPS! Do not question this pump. First use was on a 23,000 gallon pool. It emptied the pool in under 6 hours. Although it comes with various hose ends, I fit a 2 in dia PVD Female 1.5 inAdapter and short length of 1.5 in PVC pipe. This pumps. Buy a quality 2 back wash hose, a cheap hose will likely burst after a few uses...not kidding. You will not be disappointed draining a pool with this pump ... show more

We have this sump pump in our basement. The line leading from the pump itself to the float is too long. By the time the float gets high enough to kick on, our basement is flooded. We’ve tried everything to hold the float down lower so that it doesn’t need to fill the whole that high but there’s no adjusting it.
