If you have a pool, you probably ought to have one of these on hand. We had a problem with our pool last summer while we were away, and it looked like a science experiment gone haywire. After fighting with trying to clear up the water, I came to the conclusion that the only practical way to fix things was to do a complete drain and refill. This is when I found out that draining your pool using the filter pump takes a very long time, and that there's no guarantee that it will even be able to pump all the water out through the main drain. Pool pumps are designed to primarily suck water via the skimmer, which takes much less power than to pull water all the way up through the main drain. This pump drained my pool in a few hours, pushing the water through 100' of 2" pool drain hose. Even if my pool pump was able to completely drain the pool via the main drain (it can't), it would have taken much longer. The pump came in handy again when I needed to clean out our newly resurrected hot tub that the previous owner left behind. It drained the water much faster than the hot tub would have drained through the gravity feed drain. If you have a pool and/or a spa, this is one of those things you ought to have in your arsenal. Worked first time I tried it but failed the second time. The pump sounds like it is working but can no longer push water out of my basement. I got about ten hours of service from this pump. Look elsewhere if you’re needing a good pump.

Pump works great. Note if you use it to drain a pool beware it may suck in the pool and break it. The bottom has an opening and this thing sucks water and will pull object in. I used it to get the water off of my pool cover and it pulled in the pool cover, i noticed this but i have a hole in my cover. Covers are not cheap. My fault but lesson learned. It would be great if the manufactor could make add on accessories for additional use cases. If you need it to drain water from the basement it works great. 4x faster then my other pumps. My other pumps offer less power but I wanted more power to avoid or lessen the amount of water that enters the basement due to rain floods. Purchase if you need a faster pump to drain basement flood, pool water , boat etc ... show more

I’ve only hooked it up to use once as a test to confirm it will work for my application. Was very impressed on initial use. Due to an issue with the hose I connected it to, nothing to do with the pump, I didn’t run it long so can’t speak much to long term use yet and will try to update this review when I can. Note that the float switch is on a fairly long arm which needs at least 8-12” or so of clearance to move up and down in an arc. So this isn’t suitable for use in a cramped space. I bought the 1 hp version of this pump summer of 2021. It conked out now 4 years later after heavy summer use circulating pool water through my heater. That pump turned on every 15 minutes 24/7 through the summer pool season whenever the water was needed to be 85° for 4 years. The Everup I had prior lasted just one year before seizing up. Not sure what I was expected but it beat the 1 year predecessor by 4x! ... show more
