Yes it is! I got this to replace a 1/2 HP I got at a big box years ago. If you have a hot tub and don’t like to swim in egg drop soup, I would invest. Anywho, this thing is so quiet I can only hear the water gushing out of the hose standing right beside the pump. It is silent. Oh, and the little thing on the side that cuts it off when you have to many cold beers and forget to focus on draining the swamp, works like a champ. ... show more

I purchased this because of the storm season here in FL, my courtyard can only handle so much rain water and I wanted to make sure the pooling didn't reach our patio furniture. Really didn't need it yet but it does do the job when we tested it. However the instructions say "simply hook it to a garden hose." Bong! wrong! You cannot hook it to a garden hose unless you cut cut off or detach the female end of the hose, I didn't want to destroy my expensive hose so I needed to build a new connector at about $15 at Lowes. These pumps are all very similar and I had a terrible seller so do your research, mine came looking like a returned repack but I needed it just in case the storm hit us and I also bought the protection policy. ... show more

    • This is a great little sump pump
This pump works as advertised. My root cellar started flooding from cracks in the steps, walls as the water table rose this spring. Without the pump, the level quickly rose 2.5 feet! A previously used older sump pump could not keep up, but this one would easily drain up to 5 CM as claimed. I would leave it on over night and when it had reached that level and turned itself off, all I had to do was pull it up with an attached rope and tilt it to one side until it restarted. No foot valve was needed, but I installed one when I begin to use the pump when the level became too low to drain automatically. A good deal at the price! Easy to use! ... show more

I bought one to move water in a small pool in our backyard. it says right in the listing this can be used for a pool. It worked and first and moved the water... and it did it well for about 5 days. Then it went dangerously bad. The pumped stopped working. I pulled it out of the pool and checked it over. There was no sign of problem, nothing clogged, nothing jammed, nothing. So I was looking it over and while holding it I plugged it back in for just a second to see if I could see anything. I got shocked. Full 115V AC shock. I unplugged it after I picked myself up and since it was in the return window I contacted Amazon for a return. The rep talked me into an exchange for a new pump. So i did that. once again it worked... This time for 2 days. Then the pump seized. No more pumping water. The sound changed... The motor was clearly trying but was unable to spin. I didn't even look to see if it would shock me again. I returned it a second time and will never get another one. Seriously buyer beware. Not sure what the intended use really is but it is not safe and not durable. ... show more

I bought this pump to keep my pool from overflowing while we were on vacation. I kept the pump in the water for one week. When I tried to turn it on it would not start, I took the bottom plate off and the shaft was all rusted keeping the shaft from turning. After I forced it to turn I put it back in the water and it ran but I have to do this every time I want to use it. I thought the shaft would be stainless steel. ... show more
