My very floppy eared beagle flipped over her ear and to my horror it was torn up; red, swollen & very irritated. She obviously had an infection and had been scratching at it. I felt terrible I didn’t notice it sooner. I bought the zymox otic because it’s a cleaner and treatment all in one and has hydrocortisone which I knew she needed badly to bring down the swelling from scratching at it. The medicine is a clear watery gel, something I wasn’t expecting. I thought it would just be liquid. The gel works great though because it suspends in place so you can really get to every little fold and crevice inside the dogs ear. I started with the outside of the ear cleaning as I went with cotton balls. Once I had all the little pieces of scab cleaned up I went for the ear canal. It says to fill the ear canal with medicine and then wipe away. I filled it and then massaged the ear to make sure it went deep enough. I then tilted the dogs head the other direction and let it drain out and wipe wipe wipe. The next morning was a big difference!! It was looking a lot better. I was still nervous though what if it didn’t work. When we woke up the 3rd morning I checked her ear and it looked so good I had to do a double take to make sure I had the right ear. I can’t recommend this medicine enough. We are continuing treat. It says 7-14 days but looking at these results I think a week will be plenty. I just wanted to leave this review to help other dog and cat parents. This medicine treats fungal and bacterial infections using 3 types of enzymes so you are good to go using this either way. I highly recommend! Worth every penny! Update* after reading some of the 1 star reviews I just wanted to add that it is always best to have your animal evaluated by a veterinarian. Some animals may need an antibiotics to treat an ear infection and this treatment may not be enough. Also if you see that your animal is suffering from any adverse reactions it is best to stop the medicine and have them evaluated medically immediately. Just like with humans, some medicines can have side effects that can be severe. Not all medicines work for everybody or everything 100% of the time. People and animals alike can be allergic to certain ingredients. It is best to closely monitor your animal whenever they are taking a new medication whether prescribed by a vet or bought over the counter and even when it’s something as simple as a topical medication. This medication worked great for my pet but I do check my dogs ears weekly because she’s a floppy eared breed. More than likely I caught the infection very early when she was symptomatic for only a couple of days. This may have contributed to how successful the results were for my dog. On day 4 now and all symptoms are gone, however I will continue to monitor the ear for up to 4 weeks to make sure the infection doesn’t reoccur. I’m very sorry to the pet owners who had adverse reactions to this medicine and that you didn’t share the same experience myself and many others had with this efficacy of how well this product worked. Your reviews are the reason that I felt it necessary to remind people that medical intervention first is always best.

My 6 year old lab has had ear infections since she was a pup. I believe, unfortunately, it's common in dogs with floppy ears. We go to the vet for ottomax and antibiotics and they help but never stop the issue. It is frustrating to go to an appt where it costs hundreds of dollars for tests (that come back inconclusive) and be told you can't have the ottomax without the test. Last week her ears got really bad and I was going to set up for an emergency visit. I did a google search and then looked on Amazon and read all the positive stories about Zymox. I knew it would take a couple days to get in (even for an emergency) so I placed an order with Amazon. Since i have prime i placed the order and it arrived the next day. Only supposed to use it once a day. Followed the instructions and put the syrup consistency product so it went into her ear canals and then gently rubbed. No pain, no upset, no mess. She shook a little after which was fine since you should wipe the excess after. You are not supposed to clearn the ears before or after treatment. After an hour of it being in her ears, I looked and OMG....there was so much brown icky stuff that had come out of the ear canals which I cleaned up. The next morning her ears looked so much better and no icky brown stuff any longer. I used it yesterday morning, and again no awful discharge. This morning (day 3) she was very patient and lied on her back so I could easily put the med in. It was night and day. Her ears acrually look great this morning. I will continue following the protocol of putting in her ear once a day through day 7. I bought two containers just to be safe and was happy to see the shelf life is a couple years. I know it's only a couple days, but her ears are looking great and she was a happy, playful puppy this morning. Far less than the vet and not at all stressful or painful for her. UPDATE: Today is day 6 i put the med in her ears....they look perfect, but i'm following the instrutions to the letter. I am absolutely impressed. We'll see what happens in a couple days when the med app stops. 09/6 ..been close to a month and I’m absolutely overwhelmed. After 1 week of using this product..my girl has had no infection or red ears at all. This is a pup who’s had chronic issues since being a pup. I can’t save enough about how in a wet awe of the outcome. She’s even happier than ever!! I hope others will try it and have a good result too.

This is one of those rare pet products that earns its reputation. Our Goldendoodle loves the water, but every dog owner knows what can happen next: wet ears, a funky smell, scratching, and the beginnings of an ear infection. That’s where this product has become a staple in our house. Whenever Teddy’s ears start getting that telltale odor after swimming or bathing, a few drops of Zymox usually turns things around within a day or two. If there’s visible wax buildup, we’ll gently clean that out first, then apply the drops. The relief seems almost immediate because he doesn’t resist the treatment at all… in fact, he seems to enjoy it. What I like most is how easy it is to use. Just apply the solution and let it do its thing. No complicated routine, no wrestling match with the dog, and no strong medicinal smell. Of course, if your pet has a severe infection, significant pain, swelling, or symptoms that persist, a trip to the veterinarian is still the right move. But for those minor flare-ups, irritation, and the occasional “wet dog ear” problem, this has worked remarkably well for us. A product doesn’t earn nearly 80,000 reviews by accident. In our experience, it deserves the praise. Highly recommended.

I can’t recommend this product enough. I have a bulldog with chronic itchy ears. I think he’s allergic to oxygen along with most everything else and I tried everything to help his ears stop itching with nothing really helping. I found this product and saw the reviews and decided to try it. After the first application I saw improvement and by day four, his ears don’t bother him for the first time in a long time. The directions call for a seven day regiment which I’ll do but let me tell you this stuff is worth ordering. I’ll always have some on hand if the need arises.

I cannot say enough good things about this ear mite/ ear irritant cure. Our lab has had one problem or another with itchy ears since she was a pup. We have literally tried every thing available on the market and we have also paid a fortune for medicines through our vet. Nothing has ever worked, including antibiotics. I actually had one idiot vet who truly thought that we would agree to have our pups ear canal removed...can you believe that? What an idiot. Any way, two weeks after beginning this once a day, she is not scratching, not shaking her head, not rolling around on the ground trying to scratch her ears. We are thrilled! More to the point, our dog is happier than she has ever been, and she is a naturally happy pup! While I have come to realize that she will be on these drops for the rest of her life, (this is our second bottle, if I do not apply the drops daily, she is soon itching up a storm again) I don't mind the cost, and I am not worried about the medicine being too much, or being less effective over time. There is no cure for her problem that we can find. Could be allergies, could be mites, could be both, or it could be a problem that is unknown and therefore undiagnosed and I believe this is the correct assumption. No vet has ever given her a correct diagnosis. She has seen seven different vets in four different states. Our newest vet has told us that this problem, what ever it is, is as common in dogs as the common cold is in humans. Our new vet is so impressed with the efficacy of this product that he plans to stock it for his patients! As far as I and my dog are concerned, this is a miracle product, and as I said, I cannot sing it's praises loud enough or long enough. Should we reach a day when she no longer requires daily doses I will up date and let you know. Do let me tell you that this is very viscous, and it takes only three drops in the canal to produce the desired result. Weirdly, the manufacturer recommends strongly that you not clean the ear canal while you are using the product. I was pretty grossed out by that at first, but after a week or so of use, she no longer requires that they be cleaned, they look as clean as I would want them to be. If your dog suffers from itchy, hot, red ears and you cannot find the poor thing any lasting relief, you need look no further than this product! I urge you to try all of the Zymox product line on your problem pets. Our lab also has had a life time skin problem, smelly, scaly, and itchy enough to drive her mad. The skin looked remarkably like cradle cap. So we used a toothbrush just as you would on an infant and removed all of the powdery, scaly stuff that we were able to remove, and then we tried this Zymox medicated enzymatic shampoo. Two shampoos, and the problem, (after suffering from it for 10 years), is simply gone! More vets than I can tally, and thousands of dollars in medications and shampoos, and not one thing ever worked for more than a few days. Now she has a normal, shiny, beautiful, itch free, scale free, smell free coat! These Zymox products are the answer to a prayer for us. For hot spots, they make a sweet smelling enzymatic coat conditioner. Normally we dilute it to apply after her shampoo, and we do not rinse it off. On her hot spots, we apply it straight to the area(s) and they are gone over night! No exaggeration, overnight! Again, this is after ten years and thousands of dollars wasted. Nothing ever worked. Only one vet ever told us the truth about that skin disease- (this was in Florida, where EVERY dog who lives around water, has one degree or another of this skin condition) it is of unknown pathology, and there is no known cure. I wrote to that vet after discovering Zymox, he now recommends it to all of his dogs owners. If you want to cure your pets agony, I urge you to try the Zymox product line, no matter the problem, they seem to have a product for every need. Please, if you try this product line on your loved ones problem areas, let us all know how it worked out for you and your pet.

This is a miracle. Seriously. My dog kept getting ear infections/ yeast overgrowth and nothing was working. When someone recommended this product to me, I was willing to try it, but not expecting much. First thing I noticed was how effective it was at removing all the ear gunk out of my dogs ears. While I was being consistent at using this product (maybe once per month or as needed) my dog never had any ear issues. Last week when I was bathing him, I realized I hadn’t cleaned his ears for a while, and I was horrified when I looked inside, and his ears were bright red (like really red). I immediately put the solution in his ears and cleaned his ears out real well and within one day his ear looked significantly better. With each day that went on his ears were better and better. This literally saved me a vet trip and hundreds of dollars I didn’t know how well it would work once the ear was so bad but it literally was a miracle!!
