It is lowest cost for such a security system even buying the hard drive separate, and I put a 2TB hard drive and only used 2 of the 4 cameras so I got two more for spares. The instructions are lacking so it takes a little (just a little) ingenuity to figure out things like the red light is power and the green light means the videos are activated and working, and "play back" only means play back while we have to go to the main menu and click "backup" in order to copy a file onto a flash-drive. The red icon means no sound but this DVR can install a microphone if our State does not object. The small yellow lighted icon is for the motion detector coming on, but even with motion detection the videos are recording 24 hours every day constantly so it gives full coverage. The infrared comes out black-n-white but it is brilliant how it lights up the entire yard like a strobe light and yet completely invisible to our human eyes, except for the little red glow of the infrared around the face of the camera. I attached mine to one of my HDMI's on my TV so to watch a live view outside then I just change from TV over to the HDMI and there it is constantly live monitoring but when I turn away from that HDMI then the TV does not show the video so it harms nothing. I mounted one camera inside but I do not want inside on full time monitoring so I put the power wire hanging loose and so if I ever want the camera inside to start working then I just reach down and push together the loose power cord and then the inside camera comes on only at my comand. I am very happy with this.

I purchased this ZOSI H.265 4 channel 1080P DVR for my small home in Guanajuato, Mexico. Its enough for my needs. The cameras are plastic, so its a good idea to keep them away from direct sunlight and rain, although they say they are weatherproof (dont trust that). I believe the cameras are 720p but the DVR can handle 1080p. I have a 8 channel ZOSI H.265 DVR in my US home and been working great, although I didnt bought that one as a kit. I am using Amcrest and Zosi cameras on this one. Those are made of plastic with aluminum. 4 Stars on this 4 channel dvr.

OK I will say this price is nice, picture is good night vision is good. BUT heres the downfalls Im having issues 1 for some reason while in record mode it just looses the date (the recording) Not Realible at all 2 motion works good probably to good, even on the lowest setting and setting a specific area the thing will beep (which can be turned off) 3 which is realted to 2 the motion is too sensitive even on lowest setting and sends me 900 emilas and I never even seem to see the recording (snap) of when I come and go 4 I may have setting wrong? but seems in record mode it can't be viewed online 5 Viewing from phone is Nice when It works which is very hit and miss Overall I would Not trust this to protect anything

Picture quality is great, use of the DVR is pretty straight-forward, and overall I'm very happy with these (especially for the price! I just could not ding a star for two minor issues (below) given the price of this system). Hooked up the app to my phone and now I can see the house while away. Customer service is spot on. I had a hiccup of my own doing and they were quick to respond via email to get me sorted. I sent pictures of my issues, they sent answers. Got me running fast! Setup: mostly easy except the camera assembly has swivel issues. There are two screws that keep the barrel in place that prevent it from easily fine-tuning the angle of the picture after install (see picture). But, loosen those screws and turn the barrel, tighten again, and it does work; it's just not easy at the top of a ladder. Cables: the cable lengths were great - got everywhere I needed them with ease. But, the cable connectors are different lengths (see picture). A bit OCD sure, but try to put them in electrical tape or outdoor tape and you have a lump. I've had Zosi cameras for a couple of years, overall they have good visual quality. Depending on how the camera is pointed, the motion detection works well. The set up is easy and the basic operations are easy to navigate. However, there have been a couple of issues that I didn't know how to resolve, I'm not overly tech savvy! I've contacted Zosi support on several occasions, they have always been quick to respond and very helpful, Cathy was easy to work with, as well as the entire team. It's been very helpful for me to have good customer support to get my issues resolved quickly.
