Description

The Heavy Duty SmartBase is a mattress foundation even stronger than your Monday morning coffee. Engineered precisely with heavy duty steel and unwavering support from multiple points of contact with the floor, this frame is built tough enough to support up to 3000 lbs of evenly distributed weight. With a frame this sturdy, you can bet that your mattress will be optimally supported for the long haul with absolutely no sagging. Its metal platform effortlessly supports your foam, spring or latex mattress without the need for a box spring. Built with valuable underbed space for extra storage, this handy frame also includes practical features like recessed legs and plastic caps to protect your floors. And although the last thing you’d expect from a frame this tough and functional is tool-free assembly, that (and a 5-year worry-free warranty, no less) is exactly what it comes with. • Sturdy and easy to set up.
Size: Twin Style: 18" Pattern Name: SmartBase® Only
This is very sturdy. I have a10” mattress on top of it. There was no assembly. I use it in my camper van so I needed something that was easy to put in sand take out when I wasn’t camping. The legs fold in to make it easy to carry and store. The only minor issue I had was that my mattress slid on it because there are no sides. I solved this by purchasing things that slide on to the frame and are raised up to hold the mattress in place. There were six in the set. I highly recommend this bed frame. ... show more

  • Deluxe option perfect for my extra heavy body and additional weight from dogs
Size: Full Style: 14" Pattern Name: SmartBase® Only
My review is for the FULL sized, DELUXE option. I read through many reviews across multiple brands of foundation/frames. I looked for information pertaining to the durability, sturdiness, longevity of each with particular interest toward reviews that mentioned heavy individuals that sleep with big dogs. Specific, I know. Seems that ALL of the foundation frames have a rating for well over a thousand pounds. Feeling better about my 300lbs, I figured I would be fine with any one of them, even when including the weight of my mattress and that of my two big labs. YET, so many people mention creaking beds, frame pieces that bend, etc and they are normal to light weighted people. So I jumped from product to product trying to find something I thought would be a good purchase. If not, my plan was to use a typical frame and box spring. When I came across THIS product, I saw that they recommended their "Deluxe" option for heavier individuals. "Reinforced stability with t-shape leg construction and locking system / Best fit for larger than average weight people" Ok, no matter how I spin it, that is me. I still hemmed and hawed, especially when I saw other products at least resembling it-- but that didn't mean it actually was the same product. I went ahead at put it in my cart while I took another peek at the perks and details. Clearly I went ahead with it, paid the extra for the Deluxe. Maybe the regular would have been fine. Maybe the Deluxe could have been a waste. My experience so far has been stellar, so I am very pleased to have plunked down the extra cash to buy the DELUXE option. --Design- legs set back so as not to smash your toes. I wouldn't have thought about it except some reviewers mentioned it (thank you reviewers)! The recessed legs are a safety and comfort feature. If you have stubbed your toes on a bed foot, know that this thoughtful feature will be greatly appreciated by all who walk near the bed. (again, Deluxe frame) --Ease of "assembly". I put that in quotes because it isn't much of an assembly needed. The frame comes in two narrow cot sized frames. These are set up super easy by just unfolding and straightening out the legs. The legs just need to be attended to by hooking a stabilizing arm and tightening a wing nut. Do this for all, then flip upright and put into position. Even easier is connecting the two frames to make one full sized frame. Bold and nut are provided. All done! --If you want more detail, look further down the product page to "Technical Specification". You will find a highlighted link that will open a User Manual. From there you will quickly see what needs to be done. It takes barely any time. I even had cats and dogs trying to "help" me in a small space and it added no time. --Sturdiness: My full sized bed is set up on a carpeted floor. I imagine that makes a difference, but I do not know. The surface of the frame is smooth- no pointy, sharp edges, so there was NO issue with it catching the material of my mattress. I don't recall if that was ever an issue here, but I recall seeing it across several reviews perhaps from other brands. --I have been using my bed nightly for a month. My two labs and sometimes a few cats join me- no creaking or unwanted movement. My husband and I have two full sized beds set up side by side to accommodate our large furry family, and to allow for better rest, yet he occasionally also um.. "joins" me, (and I know you know what I mean). No issues there either. Bed is still standing firmly in place! --I totally love the space under the bed. So do my cats, and at first, so did my dogs. It was this mysterious magical land to be explored. I don't really use it for storage at this time, but I like the option. All my pics include my curious menagerie. Orange cat, Charlie demonstrates difference in height (floor clearance) from typical frame to this frame. Huge difference! While my husband also has a full sized bed, his is currently a typical low frame, with a box spring, and topped with a mattress. Mine is this tall frame and a hybrid mattress (that comes in a box), and all together, side by side they are the same height. I hope to replace his with exact same set up as mine, eventually. So far, I am super pleased with this frame. I keep up with my reviews and will definitely come back if I have any further thoughts, revelations, problems, or even to just say it is still going well. ... show more

  • 2nd SmartBase bed
Size: King Style: 18" Pattern Name: SmartBase® Only
I'm a big fan of the SmartBase adjustable beds. I recently upgraded from a full-sized Zinus SmartBase to a king-sized bed and after looking at a few bed frames online I decided I was just going to buy another SmartBase frame. For the price, this is one of the best frames on the market and I love how much storage I can fit underneath the 18" size. I also love that I don't need a single tool to put the bed together. ... show more

  • Highly recommended this frame
Size: Twin Style: Heavy Duty (14") Pattern Name: SmartBase® Only
These frames are awesome. They fold up so nice and compact and the set up is super quick and easy. They are very sturdy and give a lot of support to the mattress. We had two I Comfort Memory Foam Mattresses that are still in good enough condition for company but we don’t have an extra room to keep them set up all the time. So, we store them in our cargo trailer and was just going to lay them on the floor for company. Well since most of our company would be older and have issues with being on something on the floor I thought well we could get like a roll around frame but they all come with a mattress and are 2-3 times more expensive. Then I came across these folding frames. These things are awesome. Our mattresses fit perfectly and there is no movement or sinking it keeps the mattress firmly in place. My husband is 6’3” and 260 lbs and it held him solid. When folded up I don’t think it’s more than 4 in thick and like 56 in wide. You can easily store away in a closet. I can’t say enough good things about these frames. I bought 2 and they both came packaged well and in great condition. Would probably be even good to take camping and maybe throw an air mattress or just some thick foam on. ... show more

  • Lasted 3 years, a bunkie board would help extend that!
Size: Queen Style: 14" Pattern Name: SmartBase® Only
Okay, to start off, I am 6'3", 450 lbs. at my highest. I bought this in '21, as well as a new 14" queen mattress from a local store. I've actually bought several of these platform frames, as this is my 4th or 5th one, each lasting about 2 years before I replaced it. I have never had problems with bending legs, as I think those people may have put it together wrong. The one negative thing I can say about this platform, is that the welds on the rods between the thicker bars is very weak. If you are going to put more than 700 lbs. (including mattress weight), you will easily snap the welds rather quickly, and will find the metal rods on your floor, or dangling by the other weld starting about 2 or 3 months into ownership. This is the one weak point of the platform. If you are going to put more than 700 on this platform I suggest getting the Super Heavy Duty variant which uses metal slats. I'm not hearing any noise when re-positioning throughout the night. The only time I hear any noise from the platform is when one of the weld rods snaps. I actually took all of the remaining rods off, easily removing them by hand and put a bunkie board on the frame and it is working great. As for comfort, I would attribute it to the mattress rather than the frame, but they work well together, bringing me to the perfect height to sit at the edge of the bed and put my shoes on. I was barely dealing with the mattress falling through the rods. You don't need to worry about that. This platform does make the bed slide alot, but a quick fix when making the bed adds only a few seconds to that routine. My suggestion to Zinus would be to change the welding rods so that they are a little longer, in order to have a larger weld on it, making it more secure, and preventing the rods from snapping so easily. ... show more
