==================UPDATE========================= I've purchased this frame just under a year ago. Over the last few months, the frame has developed serious structural problems and I wanted to let others know, as my original review has been liked by so many of you. I don't have time to go into great detail at the moment, other than to say I believe the king model when used with a heavy foam mattress is more likely to develop issues than a smaller frame. I will post more detail along with photos as time permits. I haven't formally engaged the manufacturer for a resolution yet, but I will be. It's my sincere hope that what I am experiencing is just a one-off issue due to a defect in the wood, and that others who purchased this frame based on my original review don't run into the same problems I am experiencing. Thanks for reading. ==========End Of Update / Original Review Below===================== Here's a great example of a product that is actually over-engineered (in a good way). Everything, from the instructions to the manner in which the pieces are fastened show a high degree of attention to detail. The parts are marked clearly. The fasteners, caps, washers, etc. all come in a well-organized bubble pack with labels for each item on the cardboard backing. They even provide extras of each kind of item in a separate area marked as 'extra parts'. As far as the assembly, I did it myself and took my time. I think it took about 90 minutes from start to finish, inclusive of unpacking the box and taking an inventory. The trickiest part is that it's not immediately clear to that the numbers in the instructions usually refer to the joints, not parts. Once you figure that out, it's a breeze. With regard to the fit and finish, there aren't any compromises as far as I can tell. The entire unit, save for a single center support beam is made of high-quality wood, and the finish (in my case walnut) is beautiful. It should be noted that the wood is NOT hardwood (walnut, cherry, whatever), nor do they advertise it as such. It's probably pine that's been stained to a particular color. Had they used actual hardwood, you'd be looking at 2-3 times the cost. Regardless, the result is quite pleasing to the eye as well as the touch. Once assembled, it's very solid. A very cool feature of this bed is that the slats are supplied in to sets. Each set consists of 7 slats, pre-attached to one another with plastic/velcro straps on each end. Because of this, you don't have to worry about measuring the distance between the slats and placing them evenly. On top of that, the straps are velcro that lay down on top of the rails, with affords not only precise alignment, but eliminates any tendency to shift or fall out of place over time. I can't think of any way they could improve this product. I highly recommend it.

My husband used to make furniture and usually refuses to buy anything that isn't vintage..."They just don't make anything like they used to." Well, we took a chance on this Zinus bed, hoping it would match our bedroom furniture and that it would be a quality piece. We could not be happier. From the moment we opened the box it was nothing less than very impressive (I'm getting nothing return for this review). It was well packed and had extremely easy instructions to follow. The entire time we assembled it we both commented on the quality of every piece and the ease of putting it together. We really hoped to find a match to our dressers and night stands which are a dark cherry finish. We could not be happier. So to anyone else like us who relies heavily on reviews, this bed is for you. It is solid wood and very sturdy.

I purchased this bed to go with a king-sized Tuft & Needle mattress, and I am pleased with the purchase. The packaging was simple enough and still kept the components well protected. I found the instructions to be relatively simple and mostly clear (there were a couple of stickers missing from the foot of the bed, but it was obvious what piece it was and where the others fit). They included ample spare parts in addition to the hex wrench, which is all that is necessary to put it together. We took our time and I think we had it together in under a half hour. The construction of the bed itself is sturdy, and it really does not squeak, which is much appreciated. Part of the reason for getting a memory foam mattress was to help avoid disturbing my partner if I get up earlier, etc., so the anti-squeaking measures are great. The wood is a beautiful darker stain and I was happy to be able to find a solid wood bed at this price. It definitely seems like a great value. The clean lines and simple design while still being a more traditional wood color were a good balance. It was a little shorter than I was expecting, but it actually makes it more comfortable when sitting on the edge of the bed. All in all, a solid bed and a solid purchase.

I am thrilled with the quality of this bedframe – especially at such an affordable price. I've been sleeping on it for 6 weeks now, and I still love the look and the feel of it. It took about 10 days to ship (it is large freight), but arrived carefully packed. The Styrofoam pads and blocks that protect the wood in transit are covered with a thin piece of plastic that prevents them from disintegrating all over the carpet. I appreciated that it was much less messy than I expected to unpack and assemble. Although I had expected to need an extra set of hands, I had no trouble assembling it on my own. I am fairly slow and methodical, so it did take me about 90 minutes. The only issue at all I experienced, was that one of the wooden plugs they include to hide the screw holes was slightly too small and shoved in far enough that it would be difficult to remove if I ever needed to unscrew that particular screw. However, if I were moving the bed, I wouldn't need to take the whole thing apart. I could just unscrew the headboard and transport the base on its side. This is my first platform bed, and I was a little bit dubious that it would feel as supportive as a box spring, but it isn't an issue at all. The bed is a queen (looks smaller in one of the photos because if the angle). The first photo is of the frame fully assembled before the mattress is on it. Then a side view once the mattress is there, and finally how high the headboard is once the pillows are in it. I found The headboard to be just the right height; it is tall enough to lean against and read, but not so tall that it blocks the light from the window behind it.
