My gimbal experience is limited to the DJI OM 3 which was easy and well done but couldnt hold the weight of my new pixel 6 pro. So in prevision of a road trip I purchased this and i did some beginner-level footage in black Canyon of the gunnisson... I only had a chance to check my footages a couple days later and found that each shot was shaky. Parkinson-shaky. I found an option in the gimbal to prevent shakiness... I thought that was half the purpose of a gimbal, didn't thought I'd need to enable an option for that. I still don't get it. Also having two apps on Android sucks. The ergonomic isn't well thought and feels clumsy in comparison to DJI's app. I did appreciate to use the gimbal with an extension stick, though (The manfrotto stick recommended by Simon horrocks on YouTube). I'll give it another chance and practice more... But I wouldn't say it's 'noob friendly' as other models can be. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Zhiyun Smooth 5 is a good gimbal if stabilization is your priority. It has good improvements compared to the previous model. I also found one-year premium ZY membership for the ZY Cami application that teaches you how to apply video effects to your video. Pros: There are two types of gimbal stabilizers. If you need to record a professional quality smooth video 3-axis is always a good choice (running or recording action videos). However, if you are not going to use a gimbal when you are moving fast 2-axis cheap model will be more than enough (to use as a selfie stick). The Zhiyun 5 is for professional video makers. Cons: Even though Zhiyun 5 Combo version includes a nice bag to carry it, it is bigger and heavier than 2-axis Zhiyun Gimbal. Finally: I think Zhiyun 5 is a good value if you take videos regularly. It has many advantages compared to the old Zhiyun 4 model - it has attached light with multiple color filters, 1-year premium ZY membership (that is optional and not mandatory), and more advanced controls on the gimbal. I think you can make a movie with this stabilizer. If you plan to take simple videos (no action, no running, no fast movements), you might buy a more compact/cheap 2-axis small stabilizer by compromising smoothness. ... show more

After using this product for about a week, I'm pretty happy with the Zhiyun Smooth 5. The combo kit is worth the $. The case is nice. the gimbal is good. The features of the gimbal allow you to never have to touch the screen to make any adjustments as it has control for zoom and focus through the wheel on the side. As far as the controls they are just amazing! You can pan/tilt etc. As well as the button on the back is more ergonomic than the standard bigger ones. It also indicates battery level. The media could not be loaded. I would like to start by saying that I didn't know that there was an app for this gimbal until going back to the manuals! I've noticed that the gimbal is relatively stable and works extremely well even without the app! However, to fully utilize the gimbal, you definitely need to install the app to make it work better. I would like to note that when you're holding the gimbal, use the tripod stand as a grip so you have a much better angle when vlogging. With that being said, the included lights, being able to switch between vertical and horizontal orientation, and adjustability has made this gimbal a real treat! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I gave 5 stars for the following main reasons. Stabilizations works great. The 5 gimbal modes can immediately be switched by a button right on the unit, rather than having to go into an app (eg. DJI Osmo). Mounting/balancing is instant via an adjustable clamp which is set once. Torch (pointing forward) position works great ... show more

It stopped working a little over a month later! The joystick direction control mechanism stopped working just 5 weeks after purchase! The manufacture did not offer to replace or fix!! I got back to Amazon and they said "the return window closed" and was only a week over the window!!
