  • Great gimbal
Style: DJI Ronin-SC
Use it with a Nikon z6 II and a 24-70mm lens so it's at the maximum weight it can tolerates and it works well it's easy to set and definitely better than alternatives like the newer ones that can't change the battery it comes from or don't come with a good box. The good things are 1_Battery last like 10 hours if balance are good 2_Good case 3_Works well with a mirrorless and big lens 4_Easy to set up 5_Very cheap relative to alternatives 6_Battery can be changed for a newer one if it stops durating as much as a new one 7_Great alternatives for configuration The bad things 1_There is a problem i found with the cable and my nikon in certain conditions such as a shock causing a vibration while weird i found a problem that the camera stops recording randomly and the cable is the problem it needs to be reconnected but anything filmed was lost. I know it's a cable problem so for important speeches or parts of a wedding i had to disconnect the cable due to this weird problem and activating the camera manually instead than from the gimbal, i suspect this would not happen with a bluetooth connected gimbal, still it's a very weird problem i tough it was memory cards at first but now i know it's from the cable. 2_Setting it up for the first time is a pain, you will need to see 15 youtube videos to understand how it works 3_The normal config is crap, you will need to enter with your phone and create your own profiles to work with it for example profile 1 smooth, profile 2 keeping horizontal line stable profile 3 a clone of 1 but faster, the original ones make little sense, this is good in some ways as it forces you to learn how to use it but maybe in newer gimbals with screens they have already multiple profiles ready to use. 4_Only 3 active profiles if you want to use more you need to change one of these 3 from a phone and it looks bad to be using a phone in an event, i found 3 to be ok but if you want to try others you will be forced to use a phone. 5_The case says "dji" this is not a bad thing, in fact the case is great but the fact that it says dji means that most people will associate with drones and walking with it in a shady area may make you a target for thieves. ... show more

  • Mechanically works great with my Nikon D7500 and lightweight Nikon AF-P zoom lenses.
Style: DJI Ronin-SC
28JAN2024. Loving this DJI Ronin-SC camera gimbal with it's approximate four pound maximum payload. This gimbal works fine mechanically (balances and controls well with arm and wrist movements) with my Nikon D7500 DX DLSR and the Nikon lightweight 10-20mm AF-P and 15-55mm AF-P lenses (the body, battery, and SD card, with each lens, weighs about two pounds). Even balanced the D7500 DX CLSR with the heavier 16-80mm F2.8-4 zoom Nikon lens. The D7500 does not have the phone connectivity of say the Nikon D500 so I was not looking for nor expecting phone connectivity or control. I selected this nearly four year old gimbal which is quite discounted from it's original price four years ago, because of its price. I even balanced my heavier Nikon FD750 FX body on this gimbal with small fixed focal length lenses the 28-120mm F4 lens is heavy and really strains the gimbal motors, so I do not use it, thought it does balance), but the tall "mirror box hump" does not allow full range of motion such as going from the ground to eye level. However, for normal horizontal panning and such, this combination works well. I had a smaller Zyun Crane-2 Gimbal (using only with my Android Smartphones now) which was rated for the weight of my D7500 DX DLSR with AF-P lenses at two pounds (which often forced the motors to shut down, losing balance). I have since learned that a gimbal's maximum capacity is not the total picture (picture, see what I did there? Haha. ) with gimbals. Center of gravity with respect to the lens and body is perhaps more important than just the maximum capacity. I think gimbals should be rated for maximum weight if the center of gravity is directly over the base mounting arm of the gimbal, then rated for maximum weight for each one-quarter inch the center of gravity extends forward of the base mounting plate. But I am a data analyst by trade so what to I know? This gimbal will easily handle my Panasonic HC-V785 Full HD camcorder. What, you never thought of using a gimbal with a camcorder and it's excellent auto-focus compared to DLSR's? I like the two NATO studs on the sides of this gimbal. I plan to mount a light and mic on one side (with a short arm and multi-cold shoe adapter), and a handle on the other one. ... show more

Style: DJI Ronin-SC
I got this gymbal 3 months ago for a client shoot, and I'll be honest it has preformed ok. It can be difficult to get the gymbal to do what you want when you want, especially when you are trying to create complicated gymbal shots. However this is the case with all gymbals. I like how this gymbal is lightweight and small because it makes my arm not so strained after longer shoots. However with that also comes with the downside of the type of camera that it can fit and balance. I am using the Sony fx 30 with the tamron 17-70 mm lens so it can balance my size of camera, but according to other reviewers, it won't be able to balance a camera any larger than this... ... show more

Fairly simple to setup for a beginner but still a little trial and error. Good stability for the price.

  • Easy to use, Great quality and Amazing Value
Style: DJI Ronin-SC
I didn't buy this Gimbal to save money. I bought it specifically to use with the A7c and keep my video rig as light as possible. I film content creation so I am holding this thing for hours and hours. The SC is lighter than the pro models and one of the lightest gimbals that can load up to 4 lbs. It's easy to use, very sturdy and the motors have great durability. You can set 3 different custom modes, the mobile app lets you fine-tune each setting and get it the way you want. I like the simplicity. I don't need LCD screens on my gimbal. I just need 3 modes. POV/sport - Pan only - and 360. It has bonus features like tracking with your phone, wireless control, and panorama. I haven't really used these much. The Pano feature is a bit complicated. Balancing is relatively easy. Once you get the hang of it. It took me about 3 tries and I've gotten good enough at balancing to change prime lenses in the middle of filming and balance in less than a minute. The footage is a bit smoother than the DJI OM4 I phone Gimbal. I had no jitters but you could see the walking patterns. Premiere pro cleans up most of it but if you want ultra smooth you'll want the Sony software. If you're using this with other cameras, Premiere auto Stabilization will work 75% of the time. I messed up in this example clip, but what you want to do is record B-roll type stuff in 60 FPS and slow it down to 30 and the movement will be much smoother than in my clip. ... show more

  • A great gimbal for the price
Style: DJI Ronin-SC
I have the Nikon D780 and it pairs nicely with the DJI Ronin SC , I had a time getting everything balanced but after i did it a few times i got good at it. The SC is a prosumer level gimbal, The SC has all kinds of features and functionality. I have not come across any downsides yet. The price, Quality, Functionality is definitely a great buy if you want to video kids, family functions, or just anything that catches your fancy. My D780 is a heavy camera but the SC handles it fine. If you have a mirrorless camera it will pair great with the SC, Due to the lightness of the SC it's an all day weight. Needless to say the SC highly impressed me and I can't recommend it any more. Take your videos to the next level with the DJI Ronin SC. ... show more

  • Shake, Rattle, & Roll
Style: DJI Ronin-SC
I would give it a 0 if I could. These units balance fairly easily with mid-weight cameras ( think Lumix G Series ) the problems arise from the software controls, it's just full of problems. Turn the unit it on and 4 times out of 5 you will be shocked with how violently it begins to shake your rig. I bought two of the side mounted " command/control units" thinking this would bypass the problems the linked cell phone controls possess...it doesn't. So after dropping somewher near a grand on two units with extra battery handles and command units...notta....nothing but dysfunction. I would feel like I lacked ethics if I tried to sell them off on ebay...so...now I can pay the ewaste charges at our dump to get rid of them. ... show more
