  • Not worth the $$ and doesn’t work for most jump rings
I have been making jewelry for 15 years and thought I could use this machine to weld some jump rings I use on necklaces, charms, bracelets and earrings. I watched a YouTube video before purchasing and the woman demonstrated how to use it and tested it with many different gauge jump-rings. She successfully welded 18-26g jump-rings. I practiced for several hours and went through hundreds of jump-rings and sadly only a handful of them successfully welded. The 22-26g sterling silver ones fared the best, while no 18 or 20g jump-rings did, even with multiple welds. They all cracked right open. In addition, my plated brass jump-rings didn’t weld regardless of the gauge and increasing the joules just resulted in the rings blowing up, leaving behind blobs of metal and black charred dust, I mean they were completely ruined. A lot of the sterling rings looked like they welded but didn’t pass the test with jewelry pliers and came right open. If you are using this for PJ then be aware you might not really be welding anything. Since I do not have a PJ business I can easily solder any gauge ring in seconds with my little torch lighter and a tube of solder paste. That costs about $20 vs $1000 for a machine that does nothing. Maybe this is only meant for really tiny jump-rings of a certain metal (like sterling) but unfortunately most crafters use 18-20g rings not 26g ones that are extremely thin and flimsy. There was also no documentation on this machine or the limitations of what it could weld. The woman on YouTube was reviewing all machines from this company so I assumed I could trust the information. If you need to weld standard jump-rings (18-22g) I would not purchase this machine. If you do not have a PJ business then stick with your torch and solder your paste. It works much better, takes up less space and you don’t have to worry about flash burn and damage to your eyes. Sure, this comes with “sunglasses” but you can’t see what you are doing with them on. ... show more

  • If your jump rings don't weld
If the alloy of the metal you are welding isn't protected from air, it doesn't matter what welder you purchase. It may crack when cooling. Adding sterlium silver wire during your welling process helps a lot. Sterlium cracks less often and doesn't like to tarnish. Continuum silver jump rings and wire work best but will tarnish soon after. As far as welding yellow plated and gold filled. just add 14kt gold wire to the weld or use 1 genuine 14kt gold jump ring to weld the chain together. Note: Reflective metals transfer heat well and it takes a lot of practice to weld it well enough to twist it into a pretzel without breaking. Always remember, welding without gas or flux is impossible with some metal types no matter how good you are so adding your own jump ring will guarantee successful wells Good Luck! ... show more
