I saw one of these in a motel, and decided I couldn't live without one. This isn't the same brand or model as the one in the motel, but works just the same, and just as simply. And it really is that simple. Pour in the water, plug it in, and hit the power button. You have a few cubes in like 10 minutes, and then it gets nuts. The thing makes a decent amount of ice, pretty quickly. This is encouraging me to drink more water and less soda, which can't be bad thing, right? When it arrives, you need to make sure you let it sit for a couple of hours unplugged, with the cover open. This allows the refrigerant to settle from shipping, and lets the ice chamber air out the new-plastic smell. Do this first, and you're on the way to icy-cold awesomeness. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Like how I’m makes ice quick! Been using at work since I bought it. Would be nice if they added a slot for the scooper but other than that It has been making good ice all day!

I got this because our ice machine stopped working on our refrigerator. When I empty the ice tray on the ZAFRO, the ice is wet, so when I empty into ice container in the freezer, it all freezes together into one big ice cube. I guess I expected better.

This is a cool little machine. It is well made and stable. It only makes a handful of small ice cylinders at each dump. That is enough for one glass only. If you are just needing ice for a couple of glasses, then it does not take too long. But, if you are wanting to fill up an ice tray, you need to empty each ice cycle into the ice tray when it drops or the ice melts. First thing I noticed was the size. It was smaller. I didn't realize how much smaller until I placed our last ice maker beside it. Much smaller. This is good if you don't have much counter space or even perfect for a dorm room or a small apartment. Small doesn't mean less features, because this ice maker offers 2 sizes of ice and has an auto-clean function. The front panel control is really nice, easy to see and use. I like this a lot! One way they were able to manufacture this smaller was by making it produce 8 bullets instead of 9. That decreased the width a good bit. The height is lowered which makes the water level needing to be refilled more often. You don't notice this because the ice collection tray for the ice is much smaller and fills up quickly. Notice the photos and see the difference between a normal size ice maker and the smaller ZAFRO. The basket actually fits inside the other basket. Even though the scoop was smaller, it was still difficult to get the ice out using it without losing a few ice bullets. Although the ZAFRO ice maker works very well and the ice is perfect, it makes a good bit of noise. The ice shovel board clicks loudly as it moves back and forth collecting the ice, and when the ice falls into the ice collecting tray, it makes noise as well. This may have something to do with the quality of the tray material or the top cover not dampening the sound. I like the size. I like the ice. I like the front panel controls.
