I ordered a top-rated portable AC that did not fit my window, despite the fact that the description said it would. Amazon was nice about returning it, but I didn't want to have that problem twice. So I chose the Zafro because of the videos showing that it fit all window sizes. Now I am very happy that I ended up with this one. It is smaller than the first one, it has more power--16,000 vs 14,000, and it was less expensive. The part that goes in the window is also far less high (only 7.5") so you lose less of your window. It was super easy to set up, it is very quiet--far less noisy than the window air conditioner in my bedroom, and it cools the large (600 sq.ft/ 9ft ceilings) living area in my hot, top-floor NYC apartment. Another thing that I love is that, unlike the window air conditioner in my bedroom, this one reduces the humidity. The window installation is so easy that I put it in and out depending on the weather. At this point, I can't speak to this AC's longevity, but I am super happy with it.

Really impressed with this ZAFRO 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner! It has everything I was looking for in a portable air conditioner. It has an inverter, which helps save energy by modulating the compressor's speed making cooling more efficient. It also is a dual hose A/C unit, which also increases efficiency by not creating a negative pressure environment in the room it's cooling, that a single hose air conditioners otherwise would. A room with negative pressure will often suck back in hot into the room from the outside. And it is a "smart" portable air conditioner, meaning you have the option of controlling it on your phone through the app. The build quality is also really good as well. Seems like it will last for a while and it's not too heavy either. However, one thing I would have to caution is make sure you buy the right size for the area your trying to cool. This particular unit is currently being used to cool a large bedroom, and it works fine for that. However, for a larger area, like a living room, I would probably get the 16,000 BTU unit.

Mechanically this thing is powerful and efficient, but the control system sucks. Seems to have a mind of its own, and is as if it’s designed to interrupt sleep. It incorrectly senses its own temperature, leading to erratic performance. It only really consistently cools in “boost mode”. Even then, it will only “boost” until it thinks the room is 61 degrees, when it is often far from that. In any of the thermostatic controlled modes, the room temperature sensor constantly thinks it’s way colder than it is, I’ve even put a secondary thermometer right next to the sensor to confirm that it is reading incorrectly. So basically it cools like crazy until it thinks it’s done, when it definitely is not done. This leads to it kicking off in the middle of the night and us waking up hot at 1am, and then a weird silent fight begins with the thing to try to get through the night. Additionally, it ignores the manual fan speed settings, causing the fans to turn off. I want a fan running 100% of the time cooling or not for noise and fresh air. Average night goes like this: when it wrongly thinks it’s done cooling, and the fans turn off and it goes idle at like midnight, waking us up, then it gets hot in the room by around 1am, waking us up, I mess with the unit and the remote for a few minutes to trick it into cooling again, at 2am it turns off again, waking us up, and at 3am it will briefly blast at full speed for like 5 seconds and then wind down, waking us up. This cycle continues all night.

This will work as described but a couple of things to be aware of. The plug in is very short. This limits where you can place it if you don’t have a lot of electrical outlets. Also, the hose that vents through the window produces a lot of heat. When you close the window it blows the hot air and it gets trapped in the window and it gets hot. It does cool the area. I will use with caution

We bought this to replace our old Whynter AC after reading all the positive reviews. It was a little tricky doing the window installation as the panels are flimsy. Took longer than expected. Once installed, this thing is amazing. Super quiet and cools so well. We use this downstairs in a colonial style house. It cools the 1000 sq ft space in no time. Our old AC I had to keep set at 68 to have it somewhat cool. This Zafros I have to put at 73 or otherwise it’s actually too chilly. I highly recommend.

This two hose 16,000 BTU A/C is packed with all the features I was looking for. Blows enough cold air that it might just replace my expensive outdated R22 high velocity (noisy), power hungry central air. The self evaporation of condensate is a great feature. Control locally with the IR remote or from anywhere via the phone's WI-FI app. The inverter driven compressor is quiet and its slow ramp-up and down and the blower is a nice feature. Customer service was responsive with various options to replace missing pieces due to mishandling by the shipping company.

This unit replaced a 10K BTU window unit that I had to install and remove each year. I have a finished room over my garage that is poorly insulated due to design and needs help cooling when the temperature exceeds 85°F. The window unit barely kept up, but this unit has plenty of cooling power and is much easier to install and remove. It is also much quieter. I am also happy that I can control it from a phone app and set a cooling schedule. I'm very happy with my purchase.
