The shelves are very light so easy to move while you decide where to put them. If you are like me it will only 10 to 15 different locations before you decide the place you had in mind when you bought them is in fact the perfect placement. Assembly is less then a snap since you don't have to push them to the point of breaking to get any thing to snap in to place. They look good, I am using them half for the shoe rack they where intended for, and half for lightweight collectable junk I can't seem to live without gracing my world. Not being good at judging spaces or heights or measuring things, I was pleased with how tall they are. They are wide enough to hold two pair of real people shoes, not just super slim stilettos. Over all I am super pleased with this purchase and as long as you aren't putting cement shoes on it I'm sure you will too. ... show more

So this is made of metal and plastic (with the inserts being some kind of reinforced plastic/paper hybrid, maybe). Be gentle when assembling because I can see how you could end up accidentally bending a piece or two. If you want something super sturdy and that doesn't move, this is not for you. Because you're assembling every single piece, and because you're likely not going to insert every single piece the same way, you could end up with a little gap on one side or the other, which could cause it to rock just a tiny bit if you touch it. But we are going for functionality, not perfection. I pushed down on the sides to try and get it as flat and even as possible, and once I put it in my closet, you can't even tell. This was a good solution for me, though if you're easily frustrated or you have a lot of shoes I would pick something else. ... show more
