Using during kitchen renovations while water is shut off to fridge ice maker. We use a lot of ice yearround. First time using a stand-alone ice maker. Really impressed with the speed and productivity. Matches the fridge. Not sure if all stand-alones do this, but it circulates water over the cubes so they stick together. This ice maker works great. Very quiet, doesn't vibrate, doesn't move across the counter (rubber feet on the bottom). We wish that the machine would BEEP when the basket inside is full of cubes, and you need to empty it. The FULL light turns RED and lets you know you need to empty it, but I feel like we have to keep babysitting the machine and sticking around the kitchen to check for that RED light. If it beeped like a coffeemaker, it would be great. The manual (several pages; actually a "leaflet"), answers the general questions, but not all questions you could possibly have. There is no company phone # on the leaflet either, so who would you call? I'm assuming that this is why others have bought the name brand ice makers (Frigidaire, for example), since you can actually call them with questions about any of their products. This is not a machine that you can just "set and go", where you can set it up for cubes and leave to work, for example. This is not a crockpot. The machine makes 9 ice cubes each cycle, and I believe there are 4 cycles to a "full basket of cubes" = 36 cubes. The cubes are cylinder-shaped, not square or round. Once the 36 cubes are in the basket, the red light says "full", and you empty the basket. At that point, you can either go for more cubes, or turn off the machine. Our question was: if you're not around to empty that basket right away, how long does it take until all the cubes have melted? This is why we're saying, this isn't a machine to be left alone. The media could not be loaded. Makes cute little ice cubes. You do need to get them into your freezer after a bit because they will melt. This isn’t a large capacity machine and you have to keep filling it with water to make more ice. It’s a solid little producer.
