  • Great Mower
Style: Push Lawn Mower
Everything I needed in a mower, nothing I didn't. Decent power, easy to use, started right up. Yeah, it doesn't come with oil but that's no big deal. only thing I'd say bothers me is the back guard flap is probably too long and gets caught on the ground when you're backing up or maneuvering, but you just pick up the back of the mower a little and it lays down... not too much trouble. Overall, very happy with purchase and delivery was great. ... show more

  • 31 years of mulching and this mower mulches better than any previous mower.
Style: Push Lawn Mower
I have used this mower 3 times on about half an acre yard. Likes: 1. has a single height adjustment lever which makes it very fast to adjust for thick grass. 2. is reasonably light weight, about 60 pounds and is easy to push. 3. price tag for it delivered into your garage is fantastic 4. gas tank is large enough not to need a refill and oil is very easy to put in it comes with a funnel. Complaints: 1. I do not know what lawn equipment jerk started labeling mowers with CCs instead of Horse Power. For a hundred years we all know and understand what HP means. I think 170 CCs is approximately 7 horse power which is one reason the mower mulches thick grass so well. 2. the flap on the back of the mower is too wide and will catch preventing the easy reversal when mowing. I took a knife and cut one inch of it off and the mower is much easier to use when backing up and pivoting. Conclusion: first experiences with this lawnmower have been very good....one year from now I will update this review. I would buy this again. ... show more

  • good power light duty mower/mulcher
Style: Push Lawn Mower
This Yardmax gas mower has a powerful engine for a light duty machine. The large rear wheels add to the maneuverability. The mower weighs around sixty pounds and comes mostly assembled. It took ten minutes to get it unboxed and the handle attached. Make sure to add engine oil as it comes shipped dry. There's a handle to adjust the cutting height quick and easy. For the price, it's a lightweight mower/mulcher that starts up quick and runs strong. ... show more

  • Excellent Mower
Style: Push Lawn Mower
I have only had this mower for about a week, but it's been great so far! It starts up first pull every time after pushing the priming bulb 3 times. No issues so far, it has plenty of power. I have found it to be better build quality than mowers from Home Depot at the comparable price. I will update the review if things change. ... show more

  • Works great
Style: Push Lawn Mower
I needed to replace a broken old craftsman mower. I just needed an old fashioned walk behind lawn mower for a small to medium front yard and this fills the need just fine. Easy to assemble and starts right away. Easy to adjust height.

  • Yardmax does not actually have any customer service.
Style: Push Lawn Mower
I would have given this mower a very good review if only Yardmax had any real, actual customer service. Inside the box the mower came in, there is one of those sheets that says, "STOP ... do not return to store ... call us first". It strikes me as very odd for a company to do this but not actually have any customer service. I had a small problem that they should have been able to correct. The cap for the oil dipstick/filler does not fit properly into the pipe leading down into the crankcase. The cap has a thick section near its top where there is an o-ring with outer diameter 20 mm. But the interior diameter of the pipe is 22 mm. By design the cap does not screw on, i.e., it is held in place by friction only. As such, it needs to be snug and shouldn't wobble. The cap is so loose that it wobbles and there isn't really much friction to keep it from coming out. This is a terrible, terrible design even if it were a proper fit. But since the fit isn't snug, this is not acceptable in the least. I've had the mower now for almost two weeks. I first submitted a request for customer service via their web site. After a week there was no reply, so I sent an email. With no reply to it either, I began trying to call them, starting a couple of days ago. After selecting the appropriate menu option, there phone system advises to "continue to stay on the line ... " Yesterday I stayed on the line for more than half an hour, and no one ever answered the phone. I did this again today, but only for about ten minutes this time. It is all but certain that there wasn't anyone answering the customer service extension, and that they had so little appreciation of their customers that they left the phone answering system where it told people to stay on the line even though there was no one there to pick up the calls. Would I have bought a product from a brand that was going to treat me like this, if I had known that this is how they are? Absolutely not. As far as I am concerned, companies that treat customers this way, that show this little appreciation for their customers, need to simply go out of business. The sooner it happens, the better it is for everyone. As far as it affects their customer service, they've already gone out of business anyway. So, now I have no way to know what I should do about this oil filler/dipstick cap. I hope that they did not do this intentionally, as a way to vent the crankcase. The crankcase absolutely does need to be vented, because for a single-cylinder engine especially, the crankcase volume changes as the piston moves back and forth. But surely they did not think that it would be appropriate to vent the crankcase by using an oil filler cap that fits loosely and that might fall out and that will allow fine sand and other debris to enter the crankcase. Over time, this will surely result in destruction of the engine. I am hoping that they weren't stupid enough to think that this is an acceptable way to provide for crankcase ventilation. I am hoping that the engine has another means for ventilating the crankshaft, and that the loose cap is simply an error during assembly. There just isn't any way for me to know. I called AMZN customer service. They had another number for Yardmax, but it was just another number for reaching the same phone answering system. No help. I wouldn't have bought their product if I had known about their lousy attitude toward customers. I have to let other people know about this, and recommend to other people that they buy whatever equipment they need from another company that genuinely appreciates their customers. And based on the information I have, i.e., that the mower was shipped with the wrong oil filler cap or else with one that was intentionally too small to fit snugly, in order that this would correct the oversight with respect to crankcase ventilation, I am not able to avoid the conclusion that the engine is most likely junk. The more I think about it, the more I am inclined to think that this loose cap was their solution to the need for the crankcase to be ventilated. And when I think about this, I can't avoid thinking that the engine is a piece of junk. This, together with them not answering the phone, just doesn't leave me with a good feeling about Yardmax or their products. ... show more

  • Acceptable mower
Style: Push Lawn Mower
Appears to be well made and comes with complete instructions on care and maintenance, all to the good. The weight is good, especially as I have areas where it's difficult to mow and I have to manhandle the mower a bit. The motor seems to perform well, with the exception that it is inordinately hard to restart if you have to stop it for even a minute or so. It should just restart immediately, but I had to reprime and pull and pull the starter cord multiple times. That shouldn't have to happen with the motor stopped for only a minute or two. It is advertised as a side discharge or mulching mower, which I liked, but the discharge chute, when fitted, is easily knocked off when you even lightly brush against something, and if that happens you have to stop the mower and then have the restart problem. The blade isn't particularly sharp and doesn't give the sense that you are cutting well, but on completion it looks fine, so I'm OK with it I guess. It's not a perfect mower and could be better but I'm reasonably satisfied and will continue to mow with it. ... show more

Mower came quicker than expected and went together quickly and with no problems. And it mows perfectly. Easy to push and maneuver around my trees, etc. I would recommend this mower to anyone.
