  • Not at all "thick" or "heavy duty" but still absolutely *decent* and *adequate*
First off, for $14 and free shipping, you really can't complain with this and I would buy it again. That being said, I would have liked to have seen a little broader weld points where the curved piece mounts to the wall bracket underneath. Maybe two supports instead of one or something triangular or boxed out... to give it a little more lateral support from flexing and stressing the welds. Reviews that say "thick steel" and "heavy duty bracket" are getting carried away. The steel and the bracket are just enough to be decent and not total flimsy garbage. At no point would the words "thick" or "heavy duty" ever enter my mind with this thing. Think "decent" or "adequate" or "good enough" (I mean good enough seriously and not sarcastically). At least the wall bracket does have some kind of support welded in under the curved piece, and the welds that are there look good. No corny spot welds or not enough weld situations happening there. The little railing on the front however is only welded from the bottom and should really have a full bead around the top at the base of each end. But I imagine that would raise manufacturing costs and we wouldn't be getting this for $14. Do I think this thing will last forever? Hell no. Do I think it will last 10-15 years? Probably. Honestly it's not junk and was exactly what I was expecting after a thorough look at the picture. It's just the reviews throwing words around like "thick", "heavy duty" and "last forever" had my hopes a little inflated from what they should have been. It's decent. And for the price I am more than happy. In 15 years when the curved piece breaks off the wall bracket I will bend a nice thick piece of aluminum bar stock into an L and bolt it down to that with some 1/4 20 stainless bolts. Then it will last forever :) ... show more

  • Mounted it on a 2-wheel hand truck and it's better than the junky portable hose carts
This is a good solid piece that I use a bit differently as follows: 1. I found that affordable hose carts were all pure junk. So I attached this to a great and inexpensive 2-wheel dolly. 2. My 2-wheel dolly has a nice high handle that is easy to use, no bending, and has good quality wheels. 3. This is super easy to attach securely to a hand truck. And can be unattached and reattached without drama. ... show more

  • Nice product, big fail on the label!
This product looks like it is well worth the money. The metal is heavy and the coating is good. Why the 1-star??? They got lazy and attached an extremely sticky label to the top surface of the hanger. You can't get it off without damaging the surface! Leaving it on looks hideous. Buy another brand or get something else. Ruined the experience. ... show more

  • Simple, easy installation, inexpensive.
This is so much better and simpler than other hose caddies I’ve used. It can hold about 100feet of hose and as long as it’s been installed properly can handle the weight of that hose – filled with water – easily. The only minor disappointment is that it doesn’t come with any mounting hardware (screws, for example) but considering all the different materials one might mount this to – wood, brick, whatever – I understand why as that would have added significantly to the expense. I bought one, used it for about a month, then bought a second. ... show more

  • doesn't get any simpler or better...
this is the first time i have sat down to write a review immediately upon receiving an item from Amazon - normally because you need to use something for a while before you have a sense of how good it is... i just received this 10 minutes ago, and without even mounting this hose-holder i can already tell it is really well designed and very sturdily made... if this ever breaks, it is because you had it screwed into a very solid wall with big long screws and your pet elephant hooked it with her tusks and yanked it upward - and even then i think the screws may just pull out of the wall... this is really SOLID - the curved part is much heavier gauge steel than any others i've seen... ... show more

  • Sturdy, well designed, hold 100' of hose easily
Replaced an old hook that let the hose kink under its own weight. This is sturdy and easily holds 100' of heavy duty hose, and the guide rail makes it easy to coil, holding the hose on the base plate as you haul in and add more. It feels heavier than any previous metal hose holder I have bought. Mine is mounted about 3.5' off the floor and none of the hose touches. If you really want to coil it as tightly as it is when originally sold it would fit, but this is fine for me with less effort. As for all the complaints about it not coming with screws, really?? You don't keep an assortment of screws in the house for general repairs? Besides what screw should they send? You might be installing it in wood, masonry, plastic siding with insulation board underneath, etc. They can't send every possible screw anyone might need, and also educate you on which screw to use in your situation. C'mon people! The screws for the old hook were spaced just like this new one so I backed them out an inch, took it off, slid the new one on them, and tightened them down, so it could not have been easier, but had I needed new screws if the spacing were different, jeez, got a whole assortment in my useful drawer. If you don't, I suggest you buy one of the screw assortments in the little plastic divider boxes available here on Amazon. ... show more

  • Great hose rack - no sharp edges, thick metal
Very strong, will not bend like the flimsier versions I have used in the past. The metal is just plain thicker. I also like that it has no sharp edges for me to scratch myself on (winding up a hose requires a lot of action and arm swinging, and I am a klutz). It has a powder coated paint surface which adds to the higher quality. The front retaining bar is quite high, which can get in the way of your drill, so measure and start the screws 3/4 of the way in, then hang the bracket and finish tightening the screws for those final few turns. I have 2 side by side, and each has a 100 foot hose on it, and there is a little more room on the rack if I wanted to put more. Keep in mind, though, that I have them up high on the wall, about 4 feet, so that gives me longer and fewer hose loops. If you hang it lower to the ground, you will require more loops and thus less hose length. ... show more
