  • Yarbo: My new multi-function property management tool
We recently purchased the Yarbo Mower Pro 4-in-1 bundle to replace our lawn service and aging snow blower and so far, really like what it can do. (Note: We bought it in the spring and have only used the mower module so far) We were immediately surprised with how quiet the unit is while the mower is running. Unlike any gas-powered mower we've owned in the past, we can easily carry on a conversation while it works. It is so quiet, I wouldn't be concerned having it run after dark because you barely hear it moving around. While it has been a fantastic device so far, it does have some negatives I'll outline in my pros/cons list below. If you are hoping for an easy setup & replacement of your existing mower, you will be a little disappointed with the setup effort though I believe that will improve as the software matures. Pros: * Super quiet. We have bathroom hair dryers that are louder * Once mapped, it can run fully autonomous with scheduled jobs * Multiple obstacle avoidance options (light touch, ultrasonic range) * Mower module has a rain sensor so it can be configured to stop in different weather * Now supports NetRTK for positioning in addition to a traditional RTK base station * It can wirelessly recharge itself at the end of a job * HaLow based network connectivity will allow the unit to travel a significant distance without losing network connection * Included 4G cellular coverage that can be enabled for free (with enough free monthly data for standard operation but only about 20 or 30 minutes of video streaming from the rover's cameras) Cons: * The mapping process takes some getting used to and is by far the most time-consuming part of the setup. (You will need to tweak and adjust the map) * The 2025 Y-Series core does not support LiDAR based mapping (The new M-Series does) * It does not handle sharp inside corners well (like inside a fenced yard). It approaches it from one direction only. * It doesn't get as close to the perimeter as I'd like and if I reduce the edge buffer from the default 4" to 0, it tries to back into my fence to turn (the rear of the rover has stereoscopic cameras, so I think this can be fixed with software) * Its docking routine is not randomized enough to prevent damage to the grass about 3 feet in front of the dock when it turns around. (I think this could also be resolved with software) * The new NetRTK capability is expected to become a subscription option at some point. (Pricing and terms still to be announced) Note: Yarbo offers extended warranty and accidental damage coverage on their website but unlike orders placed directly through Yarbo, purchases made via Amazon or 3rd party retailers have to submit a support request to their after-sales team in order to purchase. As this is an outdoor robot with a lot of moving parts, I would strongly recommend the extended warranty & accidental damage coverage regardless of where you purchase it. ... show more

  • good for wide open spaces
For large open lawns I'm sure this would be fine. You'll find you'll need to do some maintenance to the lawn, but you will end up with golf course quality. Our yard is hilly with trees so the gps has problems and the auto functions have problems with narrow sections, paths, and slopes. Still helpful, though more manual controlled cutting than i was hoping for. ... show more
