Going on nearly a year with this lock. I really don’t have any complaints I can think of. This was replacing a Schlage smart lock. I feel like the battery life on this isn’t as good, but it comes with the territory. The finger print scanning works first try about 85% of the time.

Be aware of regional restrictions before purchasing this lock. I bought two Yale Assure Lock 2 Touch smart locks from Amazon USA, but after bringing them to Costa Rica I discovered they cannot even be activated. Yale Support confirmed that the Yale Access app and these locks are only supported in the U.S. and Canada, and the initial setup cannot be completed outside those countries. This limitation was not clearly disclosed in the Amazon product listing, and without activation the smart features are unusable. If you plan to use these locks outside the U.S. or Canada, verify compatibility before buying or choose a model officially supported in your region. ... show more

Everything it is cracked up to be. Only issues installing this door lock were mine. Gotta read all the instructions. After not being able have it read my fingerprint, I followed the full reset procedure of both the lock and software and was successful. Works as advertised!

    • Lock has a mind of its own

The lock unlocks itself randomly. I was in bed at night and thought I heard something and the lock had un locked itself. Reinstalling firmware, recalibrating and it still has problems. Often during the day I try to lock it manually and it immediately unlocks itself. It’s infuriating. It does it 3 times and starts beeping. Some passage mode which doesn’t work. In the past I had so much trouble with August software. I was extremely disappointed to find out Yale bought August and now has the same buggy software. If I had known Yale was also August then I would not have bought it. Schlage locks work so much better. ... show more

The batteries die extremely quickly. Bought this three to four months ago and already have had to change the batteries twice. The door doesn’t get used very much either, it is made more frustrating because the lock dies with little warning and can lock you out of the house if you don’t carry the key around with you.     • When it works it’s an awesome lock

Not going to lie, when this lock, including its advertised features, works it is an awesome lock. But the biggest issue is the battery life. If this lock is installed within a doorway that is frequently used, you are lucky to get 4 weeks worth. I even used the highest end AA batteries (which is nearly 2 - 3 times the cost) but same battery life. And the Yale app doesn’t show any battery life reduction (always showing 100%). You only know it’s the batterY with the consistent WiFi disconnect. Another major issue is the frequent reconfiguration of what an open/closed door is supposed to be. Since another major feature I require is the Auto lock capability when the door is closed. This feature works about 50% of the time. To combat the battery life issue, I have switched to recharging ones so I don’t waste too much money on batteries. Tread carefully on this model. Unfortunately I am stuck with it. ... show more
