I used with a Thule narrow roof pod and an inexpensive basket I found on Amazon. These brackets kept everything tight to the car over a long 2000+ mile road trip with a lot of added wind resistance. These wrap completely around factory raised bars and tighten well. This provides great support for cross bars. Plus they do not move or shift when loaded. Take the time to align them evenly on your car. Much better than OEM or other known brands.

I have used Yakima products for about 30 years. Never had a problem. In fact the our kayak racks are the originals; 30 years of use. In August, upon reinstalling the Timberline system on my 2020 Explorer, one of the towers failed to tighten (some sort of ratchet system, I think). I contacted Yakima service to get a replacement, the towers were only 3 months old. After sending them all sorts of information, including a video showing the tower wasn't working properly, it is now October and they just told me they could not tell me when a replacement would be sent. Very frustrating. Followup - Yakima's warranty is as good as the person you talk to. First be aware that there is no connection between registering your product and customer service. When I first called with my warranty number, I was told they had no way to retrieve that information. The first person I talked with told me he would email the information to submit a claim to have the faulty part replaced. Three days later, no email. I called again. Second person did send an email, which included the need to send a video (see above). Over a two month period, I emailed this individual several times to see when I might get the replacement part. It was always on back order. In early November, more than three months since I first talked with them, I decided to call. The person (John) reviewed my correspondence and told be he would look into it. I thought, here we go again. But the next day, I got an email telling me the parts would be sent out by FedEx the next day. Indeed they were. If I had spoken to John on my first call, it is likely I would have given Yakima a 5 star rating to begin with. Why the other two folks could not solve my problem, I will never know. As I said at the outset, I have used Yakima products for 30 years and never had a problem. Thanks to John I will likely buy Yakima again.

The Sightline Towers and their associated clips and bars work well -- they are reasonably easy to install and the attachment seems solid. That said, I'm very disappointed by the engineering and support for Yakima racks. As long as the racks are installed things are great, but when you remove the racks -- for example to reduce drag when you're not carrying a load -- you'll find that the pads & clips are not well attached to the towers. The pads tend to fall off and it's remarkably easy to knock out a clip too. If you manage to loose a pad or a clip you'll discover the next downside to Yakima's system -- you can only by them in complete sets. A set runs around $150, so I'd highly advise being well away from any storm grates when you're installing or removing a rack. I'm not sure what engineering problems led to the less than positive attachment of the pads and clips -- maybe there are real problems that I'm not understanding, but the decision not to sell individual pads & clips makes no sense at all. It's not the kind of support that I expect from a premium product.
