What I like #1 I love the big screen! I had a smaller unit, very difficult to use the touch screen. This big screen rocks even with my rubber mechanic gloves on. #2 They put a folding stand on the back so you can sit it upright on a fender or dashboard. Doesn’t sound like such a big deal but it is a real helper. (Note to Xtool it would be great to have some kind of hook on top as well, to let it hang from a steering wheel.) #3 Being based on Android, it just makes sense, the work process flows mostly naturally. Yes, you need to have some understanding of these scanners, but for the most part it is logically laid out. #4 The data cable is substantial, thick and strong, I think you could slam a door on it and no damage. Certain it will last for many years. Plus it has a lead to connect a borescope! Since the unit already has a camera you can take pics and add borescope pics to create a great diagnostic report. What I would like to see…As I mentioned, some kind of hook for the steering wheel. Next, a slot for a micro SD card to expand memory. I doubt anybody would need to load all of the many cars available, but even with a few, and regular use, more memory would be nice. Next, I would like to compartment my vehicles so I only see the updates available for my selections. Let me have a folder just for Ford, just for Jeep etc., and that would save having to read the entire update list to find the files I want. Now that might not sound like a big deal, but time is money, and at a commercial shop nobody wants to spend time scrolling for an update. And finally, this comes with essentially no user manual. I would like to see a flowchart from the main page flowing to the following pages. Happy I bought it, and I have also found Xtool to be very responsive in communications. In fact this is not my first Xtool purchase, and part of that is because they actually do have customer service. Cheers!

Upfront, this purchase was my first bidirectional OBD2. With that said, I would recommend this OBD2 to anyone. It is pretty fast. Less delay than my Google Pixel phone at times. Also user friendly for the most part. I'm still learning and navigating some of the features. Xtool themselves also has superior customer service. I usually get an email response within 24 hours. They have even unexpected followed up without me asking. Great customer service speaks volumes about a company! Thanks XTOOL ❤️

Doing further testing so far all good quality ,live data, features, special functions for certain vehicles along with connections straight to the internet for further diag! Only thing I noticed was the graphic is a little basic! Will update!

This xtool D8 hits the sweet spot on price, quality, performance & features! 3yrs of free updates is best in the industry, $199 a year thereafter, has topology mapping which can only be found on competitors offering that cost twice as much as the xtool D8. Xtool customer/aftersales/tech support is the best in the business! I decided to give xtool a try after coming from launch crp909, crp129x & creader vii, launch support is non existence for any launch product purchase from Amazon. Super glad I found the xtool D8 that comes with a company that stands behind their products! The key programming side of the xtool D8 is above the competitors as it can pull pin codes, this D8 has already paid for itself many times over. The xtool D8 is perfect for serious DIY and professional alike that won't break the bank, I recommend it to families and friends every time I get the chance to do so.

I have used the D8 for over year now for the typical diagnosis of several automotive problems on mostly Mercedes, VW, and Hondas with good success. Recently I used the D8 to duplicate ignition keys for a Honda Civic 2001. The process was straightforward and worked perfectly. Overall the D8 provides diagnostics capabilities similar to OEM tools in an easy to use high value format. New info: The D8 did not charge when connected to a car for diagnosing a problem. Xtool tech support work with me to determine the ODBII cable was bad and sent me a replacement that worked. Xtool tech support was very responsive in getting this problem resolved. Thanks Jenny

I purchased this unit to be able to scan a few of my personal vehicles. Both German built and American built. And a few Korean built and it’s been able to communicate very well with all of them. Amazing unit with a lot of features. For each make. Pretty impressive. Best bang for the buck and I even have the big units from some of the big tool makers and this absolutely holds it own against them. Great battery life. Easy to update, great feature to look up codes fixes online right on the unit. Prints outs are professional looking so using in a commercial atmosphere is a definite.

I have experience with a few dealer diagnostics tool , ( Mercedes(diamle Chrysler), allison , isuzu , international, ford …. To name a few , however i must say i am impressed with the D8 capabilities and functions . Its user friendly unlike other dealer tool’s . I am now curious as to the Xtool D9 capabilities, I would recommend this tool to any DIY or any professional technicians .
