  • Bulky, but effective
The scanner itself is somewhat big and bulky, so it would be good to keep in your garage or trunk. Not sized to fit in a glove compartment though. As far as it's functionality goes, it powers up when you plug it in to the ODB port. I do not have any active check engine alerts to test its ability to diagnose the issue, so my test was only to ensure it powers up and that all showed up as advertised. It passes that test. I'm not at all experienced with this type of equipment, but I often feel that I have to waste money to take my car to a mechanic only to find that it's something I could have fixed myself had I known what the problem was. These scanners are supposed to help you diagnose those issues and determine if the car needs to be serviced professionally. The price is very reasonable for this scanner, so I'm hopeful that it will function as expected when that time comes. ... show more

  • It found the problem
This scanner is pretty easy to use, but it takes a mechanic to really know what's going on. The engine check light went off in my car today, so I was glad I had this scanner on hand to run a check. It works. It produced lots of codes. I'm a total beginner with scanning codes and didn't know what the codes meant (and the instructions don't say what the codes stand for) but I found them online. Still not sure what they meant exactly, I called my mechanic and he knew right away. I'm going to take the car in for repair in a few days. I'm glad the scanner helped identify the problem very quickly and I know the repair that's needed before even taking the car in. ... show more

  • Bigger then expected but feels solid
The media could not be loaded. Kinda wish it was smaller but its nice still, this would be good to keep in garage, but its not a compact one you could keep in glove box. I put picture of my other one I usually keep in car with me. Does everything my other one did plus you can save data and theirs even a print button haven't tested that out yet. Plugged it into usb also and it gives option to do update or read data. It feels sturdy probably a lot of empty space inside judging by weight but the plastic is plenty thick you can drop this and not worry. Buttons have a nice feel little bit of clicky sound guessing its a mechanical button not like those membrane things on most keyboards. The plug on it is not bad but they usually seem to have more of a thumb grip area on obd ports then this has, not bad to plug or unplug, but have to kinda see the port where you plugging in more so then my other one where you can just get close and wiggle to the right spot. They do include the USB to USB c cable in the box. And you don't need a computer if you just want to look at saved data just plug it into usb power and you can go through menus same as if it was plugged into obd2 port. Id probably stay with 5v and not any of the qc ports that can do 9v etc it might have protection for that idk. Uploaded video going through car running menu. It was still on metric at the time I switched too imperial when i came inside so I can see things in mph and Fahrenheit. Overall pretty happy with it hope they come out with a compact version also. ... show more

  • OBD2 Scanner
I'm an older seasoned automotive technician, I'm reviewing this product based on my many years of experience in the field using high quality tools and equipment. This mini scanner is for OBD 2 based vehicles (96 and newer), won't work on pre-96 vehicles. Scanner is small, which includes the small screen. This scanner is basically a code reader, it will give out and read basic live data stream information. Compared it to our normal commercial grade shop scanner which showed the readings to be reasonably correct. Has a trouble code "lookup" library, but its pretty basic. No storage case other than the box it came in. Instruction sheet leaves a lot to be desired, not much help for the novice or young technician. Might be okay for basic diagnostics, or just throw in the glove box to have when traveling. Price point is considered reasonable for this item. ... show more

  • Basic but informative
The OBD2 scanner is very basic in its design and features but it is capable of providing useful information to diagnose vehicle codes. Connection to the vehicle is straightforward and only requires you to know the location of the OBD2 port on your vehicle. The connection cable is more than adequate in length and allows you to operate the scanner easily from the driver's seat or even outside the vehicle depending on OBD2 port on your vehicle. The buttons for test functions are not clearly labeled and required referencing the user's manual if you choose to go that route. This scanner displays the same vehicle information as my Bluetooth OBD2 scanner but obviously does not require a phone to use. Neither of my vehicles were showing codes that needed to be cleared so I cannot attest to this scanner's ability to clear any codes, but I have no reason to believe that it is not capable. This is a solid low-cost scanner for beginners and folks who like tinkering and troubleshooting. ... show more

  • Surprisingly awesome
At first, I was very skeptical especially at this price. But sure enough, I plugged this scanner into our van and it booted up nicely! The buttons press very nicely. They feel crisp. There's no shortage of data points to look at. And if you need it to do the simple stuff like pull and reset a code, it does that too! I'll be keeping this in the glove box for emergencies! ... show more

  • Connects and works as I need it to
The screen is easy to read and the operation of the device is really straight forward. Clears the check engine light and helps me determine why it came on in the first place so I can correct the issue if needed.

  • I Needed A Replacement Code Scanner
I like the graphical display of the data. This is a good code scanner that will help you troubleshoot/diagnose/repair most all automotive related computer codes on your own. This scanner features shortcut buttons that will take you directly into various diagnostics without having to navigate as much as is the norm in some code scanners. ... show more
