This looks well made but it’s clearly semi-handmade so the metal does look a little rough up close. My only real issue is with the handlebar not staying up sometimes. Am I doing something wrong?

I got this scooter so I could ride from my car and back to my apartment since the parking sucks and I have to park, up to, several hundred feet away. In my opinion, it does this very well. The metal is thick and doesn't jiggle or rattle. On the bottom of the "board" is a metal frame for great support. I weigh nearly 300lbs and it hasn't creaked or shifted at all. Folding the scooter up is very easy with the two buttons near the front wheel. I haven't had this button get stuck yet, as other people have. According to the company, if it does, you just need to spray it with some WD-40. Extending and contracting the handle bar is easy with the latch they have, although it can be difficult to put it back down since it has to be able to stop any of your weight from forcing the bar back down. I'd say the instructions are pretty spot on. I thought the breaks were weak until I read the pamphlet it came with, which stated that the breaks aren't meant to stop you instantly in case you stop too hard and fly off. Instead, they're meant to gradually slow the wheels, although you'll have to pull the handle break as hard as you can if you're going downhill or otherwise faster than usual. Another thing with the handle break is that it feels like it's in an awkward position, where you really have to stretch your fingers out to grasp it. Now, the only issues I have with the scooter are the quality of foam for the handlebars and the rear break. The foam is very minor, so I doubt it'd wear out with careful use, but I think I would prefer rubber gripped-handles. The rear break is major, in my opinion. Instead of any springs or hinges, the rear break is one piece of flexible plastic with a break pad underneath, so you simply have to bend the plastic down a few millimeters until it touches the break. I feel like over time, using this break might cause it to snap. I barely use it compared to the handle break, so it might take a while for that to happen.

Scooter handles weight like nothing i am 375lbs plus the backpack cooler about 20 lbs more and it runs really good, brakes are also very good love how ot has front and rear brake, the only thing i would have love more if it was a bit more linger to put both feet comfortable

I researched over 30 kick scooters from different makers before settling on the XOOTR. A high-quality, durable kick scooter was what I was searching for, for the kids, because I wanted this one to last and not be another disappointing one that breaks within a few hours or days of use like so many of the cheaper ($75 and under) kick scooters. However it was difficult to find a quality kick scooter for children. I contacted the manufacturer to ask and they said they have had reports of children as small as three years old using it even though it's an adult kick scooter. I can confirm that the XOOTR kick scooter can be used by kids age 5 and up, no problem! After watching the kids try it out I gave it a shot myself and it was so much fun I started using it just as much as the kids! I may have to buy another! Two kids and one adult (weight ranging from 45 - 195 lbs) have been using this XOOTR for about two months now almost daily and the scooter isn't showing any signs of wear and tear. The brakes are good for slowing you down but too stiff for small children to use. The wheel size is larger than other kick scooters and the bearings are very smooth so you gain speed fast and maintain speed well on smooth, paved surfaces. We avoid riding on wet or dusty surfaces to keep the bearings and lubrication in good shape. The frame and handlebars are very sturdy aluminum and the plastic deck is some sort of industrial-grade resin that's lasted without fail carrying a 195 pound rider almost every day for two months so I'd say it passes the durability test. The frame release push button is a bit too stiff for small children to press easily but they can release it to fold the scooter after some effort. Of course, it's easy for adults. If the XOOTR breaks, I'll update this review to state how long it lasted. Very happy with this purchase! I'd definitely recommend the XOOTR Dash to anyone who wants a fun kick scooter that'll last.
