Like others have said, it's a long string with few lights (15) - distance between is 3 feet. You can download the App, which controls a whole lot of things - and/or use Alexa. Yes, they are quite a bit more $ than some others, but you're paying for the technology. The bulbs of course, are plastic, .5 watt LEDs with E12 bases. The bulbs are the Edison look, but overall smaller than a regular off the shelf Edison bulb. The sockets 'look' like full sized E26 sockets. A bit of an optical illusion. The 'big' looking outer circumference of the sockets are proportionate to the slightly smaller string light bulbs. That's a bit smaller wattage than some of the replacement bulbs I could find. The string has plastic/rubbery tie up spot on each bulb's socket so you can zip tie these up to something, hang them on clips or (if crossing say a path, unsupported, you can string a wire first - then clip or tie these to the wire to give them support. They are not too heavy, but still. They look best with a little slack, to make a nice draping effect. Overall, these are great for what I needed - a small outdoor patio. I have to take the lights in because we get a lot of wind but the string is easy enough to put up and take town if you plan accordingly. Perhaps it goes without saying, these are accent lights - not lights you can read by. Yes, you can plug other strings in with them, just be mindful of the limitations as printed on the instructions. These string lights are another batch of "works with Alexa" that only kinda works. 1st, you have to download their custom app, set up an account (easy), then make certain blue tooth on your phone is enabled, and know your 2.4 GHz wi-fi, as this "smart" device only works on 2.4 GHz. Wi-Fi. Probably good that all the smart bulbs we have set up all use the low band, as coverage is much wider and more stable than 5 or 6 GHz. 2nd. get the string to blink, click find, enter your wi-fi password, then next. if asked, be sure to choose the right model number, if you don't, it will install anyway, just not work and you will have to start all over again. 3rd. Once you have the lights working properly (on-off and brightness) you can link the app to Alexa. When you open Alexa, you will (if lucky) see the XMcosy app link. Alexa will start the app and list the string lights. Long way around the horn to get a smart light string to enhance your patio or porch, or maybe the home man/girl cave with some mood setting ambiance. This is a nice product, well made, water proof for out door use (except plugs), can add strings of compatible (must be variable-type led strings) up to the current limitations on the included switch box (about 75 or so bubs??) same as with the Christmas tree light strings. Price is reasonable, and the only reason i gave 4 stars is because of the custom app set up process. With Tula Smart Life available, I do not understand whey they need their own custom app. ... show more

The lights are very nice with an excellent color and range of dimming. The phone control works great once you have it set up. Like a lot of smart items involving lights or switches, it took a couple of passes to get the app and the lights connected, but it works great once they are and does not depend on wi-fi. This is important because I'll be using these primarily for our football tailgate, and there's not a wi-fi signal to be found. All around excellent product. ... show more

These lights are very nice compared to other similar sets I've had. I like most that the app works well and the dimming function is integrated. They are VERY bright at 100%, so for a nice glow, we've been using them at about 55%. The cord is thick and strong, but pliable and easy to hang. I got these lights to help brighten up our backyard patio and was intrigued by the Alexa features as we often use other smart devices (i.e. like speakers) in this space. A few comments: * The lights themselves look like the picture on the website and have a warm, consistent glow * The lights have a handful of smart features but the one we used the most was the brightness setting as it is really nice to be able to adjust the amount of light you want during the party. * The biggest downside to this product is the proprietary XMcosy App that is required for setup. The App is not super intuitive and I wish I could have just used the Alexa app for installation and setup. Overall, the connected features make these a unique set of outdoor lights be just know they will likely take a bit more work for initial setup with your home system. ... show more

So glad we ordered these, they are the perfect lighting solution for our deck. They are dimmable, so we can have bright when we need bright, and we can dim them when we're just relaxing.
