Picked up this Xislet mirror tap power cord set to hardwire my Valentine One radar detector in my '96 C4 Corvette. The cords are well made—sturdy build, good connectors. Only needed one for the install, but the extras gave me options for future installs without buying more. Plugged right in via the mirror wire tap—clean look, no dangling cigarette lighter mess—and it worked great: solid power, no drops or interference. Installation was straightforward. I used this to power a Escort Max 360c MK II on a 2018 Ford Fusion auto dimming mirror. I found my switched 12V and 0V and picked the medium thickness cord pins. The pins securely went into the back of the mirror plug. I found the cord too long, but I used the provided zip ties to fold and secure the extra length to my mirror radar detector mount. The pins felt like they were securely in the plugs pin wires. I do not believe that the radar cord pins will come out. There is actually three different cord with different pin thickness provided. In theory, this purchase could be used in three total vehicles if the vehicles require different sized pins that match up with the three cords provided. I think these cords are durable enough to be moved to future cars for a long time to come. ... show more

Works perfectly with VW GTI and Uniden R4

Great product, clean finish when installed. Used on my Mk8.5 GTI with a Uniden R4 everything fits and works great. Only thing I would recommend doing is adding some electrical tape to the excess exposed contact. There was a decent bit of extra contact exposed when fully pushed in to the mirror plug. I could imagine both contacts potentially touching after install and causing issues. ... show more

Regardless of all the negative reviews about how fragile the tap pins are and how they easily break they work. Unless you are clueless and not handy you have to go out of your way to break the pins. People who break these when installing should not even try. Hire someone that knows what they are doing. Blendmount charges $46 for these mirror taps. Unless you have $$$ to throw away try these. Do the math. If you break one you can order another and still be less than $46. ... show more
