I like this holder. I like how it attaches to the roof rack cross bars. Both the holder and the underside clam are coated in a rubber type material so that it doesn’t scratch or tare up the cross bar. However what I don’t like is the 2 clamps that you open to adjust / tilt the center bar. There is some play in the plastic, that feels like with use & sun making the plastic brittle, it’s only a question of time before they snap. I purchased this set and another set by a different brand. Last one to go and it's freaking broke!!!! I guess I should have laid everything out first and inspected it all. I really don't wanna take them all down so I'm going to figure out how to make it work I guess 😩 Other than that they seem sturdy, cheaper than Dunham sports and easy to put on. I only had trouble with the back ones because I was trying to stand in the back seat and lean over so it was a little hard to screw it in. The first weekend I owned this set of racks, I hauled my 10' kayak over 300 miles. I was incredibly pleased with how solidly they held the kayak. The racks themselves are great quality -- better than I expected given the price. I was a little concerned that the included straps wouldn't hold tightly over time, but they were great. The kayak didn't budge an inch. Getting two kayaks mounted is a little difficult, but that's mostly because my SUV is tall and I'm 5'10". I'm sure if I had another person helping me get them up there, it would have been much easier. I recommend putting the racks as far over to the either side of the car (rather than right in the middle. Overall, great price & great product, and I highly recommend. ... show more

Product came as described. All parts included. Assembly directions were not helpful. Difficult to screw in and secure by hand, wrench required. Perfect once installed on 2020 VW Tiguan. Buy your own straps. Overall would recommend.

    • Sketchy instructions, but a good product

The kayak racks do their job quite well and are pretty maintenance free. My gripe is with the instructions, or the lack thereof. The diagram shows the incorrect placement for the washers when attaching to the car. Luckily, there's a video that walks you through the install process.

We assembled these fairly quickly and installed them on the Subaru outback. The one thing that I would ensure is that you separate the two different kinds of bolts. They were very easy to install. Watching the video to install the straps was essential. I do suggest a step ladder for all of us short people to get the kayak onto the car.
