A lot of the reviews said the straps were too short so I bought additional straps. Totally not necessary. If you strap it in the way the instructions say to, they are exactly the right length with about a foot of slack. I don’t know if those reviews were for the folding ones or if they came with shorter straps than mine did, but I got the non-folding ones and they were great. Very sturdy. Installing was kind of a headache but I’m never great at installing things.

These work very well and are secure. I learned later ther are foldable types available which would save me from having to detach each time I am going into the city. Install was easy (my grandson did for me!l but I've un-installed and reinstalled a few times. It would have been nice if i got the folding type. However not sure how well those hold the canoes or kayaks in place while traveling?

These racks work great and the straps work well for short trips. id recommend ratchet straps on long trips you'll be cruising 60-80mph as I've noticed they've lost a bit of tension on some trips. I have a Subaru Impreza (embarrassing i know. Never again) and they fit great and do the job well. Im sure you could spend more for beefier, more rigid racks but for the price point for the casual kayaker you cant beat it.

Just installed it on our SUV yesterday, took around 30-45 minutes to assemble them in the house, then another 30 minutes to put them on the rack. All in all, impressed with the fit. Haven’t put kayaks on it yet but will update if there’s issues. Good buy for the price.

These kayak racks were easy to install and are a good value for the price point. When strapped correctly, the straps were more than long enough and easy to use. Something to note, these aren't foldable, so they're always upright, which I didn't think about before purchasing. Additionally, the bottom lip of this rack sits quite high, and as a shorty, makes it nearly impossible for me to clear to load the kayaks myself, but that's a personal defect, lol! To mention, we were impressed with this set up for a couple weeks. I had these delivered on 6/22 and by 7/10, the soft wraps around the bars started to split and we've had to electrical tape them to use and keep our kayaks unscuffed. In addition, we took a longer trip (5 hour drive, half county road driving 55-60 mph and half hwy driving at 70-75 mph) and the straps started to fray. We've used them less than a month, and honestly less than that because the first few trips we used ratchet straps until we learned how to properly secure with the straps provided. So, if you're looking for a quick and affordable set up for local opportunities, I think these are a terrific value. If you're looking for quality and longevity, I don't necessarily recommend the product.
