The backup battery comes pre-installed on the hub that has the option. I have mine connected via the patch cable, so I can't speak to anything related to setting it up wirelessly. I can speak to the range and responsiveness of the outdoor motion sensors that are connected to the hub (both being very good). There's been no reported loss of connection at about 100' away with several rooms and a brick wall between the hub and the sensors. I'm eager to see what else I can connect and automate with this hub!

Just bound it to the existing (no-battery) hub and it integrated right into the system. I took a star off for an app issue which makes it impossible, as far as I can tell, to see if the hub is in use by any or all devices. The various YoLink devices listed do not indicate which hub is being used for communications, so I can’t tell if it’s in a backup, redundant, or load-sharing mode. It’s a solid piece of equipment and mounted easily to a wall. Being in a rural area, bad weather can have an affect on electrical services, so this is a needed upgrade to my current system.

It works great—a budget-friendly alternative to integrated voice-controlled garage doors. It does require a few extra accessories, like a door sensor and a mechanism to press the garage button. The total cost is still worth it overall. Setup can be a bit of a hassle, but once it’s done, it works reliably. Just note that if your internet disconnects, you might need to reconfigure it with Alexa.
