    • Went from JL 10W7AE3 to Sundown Single X12 v2 D4 on JL JX1000/1d (1000 Watts RMS @ 2 Ohms)
Couldn't be more pleased with this setup in my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4 door. I admit I am a JL fanboy but Sundown has impressed the hell out of me with the X12. I would put myself between a SQ and SPL listener, but lean towards SQ more these days. I listen anything from Metal to Rap so I needed versatility. For the past 4 years i've been running a single JL Audio 10W7AE3 at 3 ohms on my JX1000 amp pushing it about 750 watts RMS and I was pushing it to its limits, recently it needed re-foamed. I decided to look for something bigger and better because I was missing some lower end bass with the 10W7. I ended up going with this single X12-V2 D4 in an Atrend Slammer series box giving it 2.5 cu ft of air and wiring the sub parallel at 2 ohms giving it 1000 watts RMS. My biggest concern was if this sub was going to get enough power or not or if just one 12 would be enough to make a big difference from the 10w7. Well both concerns were not an issue. For me personally this sub and box combo is leaps and bounds over the 10W7. For it being mainly an SPL sub, this thing shouldn't be misunderstood, the X12v2 is very tight and can hang with the sound quality of a W7, but can produce the heart pounding lows when needed. A bass test track I often use is Orgy - Vapor Transmission and this sub handled everything at full tilt, I am also getting the teeth clenching punch from AC/DC - Back in Black. Only con I have is now i'm going to have to go and tighten everything up on the Jeep because it sounds like its falling apart outside of the it. I am past my years of running dual subs in huge boxes that take up all my trunk space, so finding a single sub/box setup that would give me the sound of dual subs was the goal. I know I can easily throw another 500+ watts RMS at it but i don't feel the need to unless the JX1000 blows. Packaging was excellent and shipping was prompt. Keep in mind you have to have a direct signature for Fed Ex when receiving this. I had a custom delivery option with it to be delivered in a certain time frame for a $5 dollar fee which was worth it. ... show more

    • Can’t handle my 1200 rms
Sounds good but my JL Audio HD1200 makes the subwoofer smell really bad like burnt coils. I thought 1200rms would be a piece of cake but it sounds like it’s about to burn out. My two 10” JL W6v3 take those watts like a champ. Good thing I didn’t get rid of them.

Sundown has set a high standard when it comes to their products. I've done chewed up and spit out many who tried to keep up and I have one of these with a 4000 watt amp on it, pushing 1820 RMS. Sound quality is amazing and will rattle your eye balls out your head lmao..don't believe me , try them yourself.. You will not be let down. Best money can buy.
