These knives are among the best money can buy at a really good price right now (less than 130 at the time of the writing). Superb carbon steel. The other German brand, Zwilling JA Henckels is JUST as good. They're both superb knives that will last decades if properly maintained. The reason why I decided to keep the Whustoff is that the handle is more comfortable for me and my wife. The Zwilling knives are larger (even with the same inch) feel a smidge less nimble since the knife is heavier and the handle is large and bulky. I'm a 5'9 guy with a slightly above average hand size, and this Whustoff just feels perfect. If you're a 6'3" and above person with large hands, you may enjoy the Zwilling better. Just learn how to use a honing rod and sharpen it when it's needed and you'll be set for 30 years. Don't you ever wash these knives in the dishwasher though. The reason is that the water pressure from the dishwasher may throw the knives against each other chipping them (like any other steel) if they clash against each other. It's unlikely, but I had other knives (of other brands) ruined by ignoring this manufacturer rule. Do not risk your quality knives by not hand washing them. The knives themselves are incredibly sharp and nimble. I tried to slice hard cheese with a decent Cuisinart knife and the knife barely moved, once i pressed the whustoff against the cheese, it went through it almost like warm butter.

I emailed the actual Wusthof site by finding them via Google. They confirmed that Amazon IS an official reseller of Wusthof knives. While Wusthof through Amazon's Product Support page has somewhat inaccurate info (phone number begins with 800, not 877; website is wusthof.com, not wuesthof.com), the knives themselves are legit & I learned they are very sharp when I finally tested them! When Wusthof responded to my email, they not only answered my question as to how to access actual warranty, but also sent me a very helpful link on how to properly sharpen knives using several different sharpening tools. I am very pleased with my knives. I only knocked off 1 star because they need to update their Product Support page. Orig. Review: While the knives appear very sharp (I've not tested yet as they are a Christmas gift), I found it odd that I received no warranty papers. I know Wusthof carries a limited lifetime guarantee. When I tried to reach out to the company to inquire as to warranty papers, the website didn't appear to exist and the phone number is a fax machine! I'm still debating whether or not to return knives as I wanted genuine Wusthof knives to go with the rest of my set.

I love this brand. They are so sharp you do have to be careful, you could cut your finger off. I have cut myself twice already so now I am very cautious when using them. They are great and cut great. Very easy to cut through almost anything and feels good in my hand.

The handles are different from our Classic Wustof knives that we’ve had for years. It’s hard to call the design “classic” if you change the design. I’m not sure if they’re knock offs or if Wustof really changed them? Doesn’t matter all that much to me. They’re sharp and if they don’t hold up like our others we’ll update the review.
