A Great Piece of Equipment

I tore my TFCC about 12 years ago. I was in a lot of pain and was desperate for some relief. I came across the Wrist Widget and gave it a try. I was disappointed because I thought it had no effect. I even called out to Hawaii and spoke to Wendy Medieros, the inventor. After a couple of years, I grew to understand the injury a bit more and it eventually it became a non issue. Until a couple of months ago. For some reason, my wrist again became an issue again a few months ago. I figured,"What do I have to lose?, and bought another one. I put it on and I was astounded. The relief was instant. The product did not change. Possibly, because the injury was older, more mature and there wasn't as much swelling, but it didn't matter. I put it on and the issues, the discomfort, etc. was gone immediately. My wife dug out the old one and now I have 2, one to work out and get sweaty in and one to wear for everyday life. It's been about 6 weeks and I am finally comfortable enough to take it off. The issues are greatly reduced and I can go about my daily life without it. But, I am keeping it available in case I get another flare up. I can't say enough good things about the Wrist Widget. ... show more

Definitely works, but pricey for what you get

Knocks my wrist/hand pain down from an 8 to a 3, so I'm a big fan. However, like other reviewers noting the high price, I agree. Genius design, but the makers are printing money on this thing that costs about fifty cents to make. That said, definitely worth it.

Extremely Beneficial Device At Low $$!!

This is the third one I've ever had and they ALL WORK, provided you've had a competent hard surgeon diagnose you accurately w TFCC. I paid $50 each for my first two in 2008 & 2010. You can wear it almost all the time and for extra strengthening, use KT (kinesio tape). The nest thing is that it's VERY EASY to adjust manually. You just let out or add slack. I would very much like to give a BIG HUG to whomever created this. It has been life saving and saved me from surgery I think the Shock Dr TFCC brace and it was TOO firm along the ulnar side. Creating function again requires the allowance of some movement. This will not solve your problem overnight, it could take a while and you still need yo do PT and/or rest it but it's the best thing for it there is. God bless them. ... show more

Effective enough, but not very comfortable

For context, I am male, early-thirties, fairly fit. My use of this device is to aid recovery and prevent injury during activity. As is characteristic of many support devices which actually work, the WristWidget does its job but isn't particularly comfortable to wear. The structure of my wrists is such that I have sustained TFCC injuries in the past. They are triggered during lifting, and exacerbating while hiking using poles. The WristWidget's design is targeted to avoid the specific issues many other wrist braces have - they are too soft to provide real support, or put pressure on the styloid. This brace avoids all of that. The velcro is strong, secure, and has very little flex, and you can feel the support it offers when undergoing heavy activity. Why three stars then? First, it's uncomfortable, and needlessly so. The hard edges of the velcro cut into the styloid (on the hand-side), and the material on the inside of the wrist is merely more velcro, albeit the loop side, not the hook. This could have been avoided through adding a layer of softer, padded material on the inside of the brace. If this was twenty dollars cheaper, the current design would be understandable, but for the price it is sold for, such a cost-saving measure is not really justifiable. Second, it is only partially effective. I have found it to be useful to wear so as to avoid further injury and to aid in recovery, but the pain is still there and it doesn't do much to relieve stress placed on the wrist. I suspect that such would not be possible, outside of using a hard brace, but I'm not sure. It definitely helps relieve the pain associate with pressing down with the palm, which makes it useful for avoiding those little shocks of pain TFCC injuries tend to produce - but it isn't quite as effective as they purport. If the gap was wider, and the bands slightly wider (probably), that might be better. They have a wide version, and I might need to try that one instead. Despite these two things, if you have TFCC issues, I would recommend trying it. It is certainly pricey for what it is, but it isn't pricey for what it does, assuming it works for you. ... show more

Simple, Effective Wrist Support For TFCC

The WristWidget works much like the standard of using two strips of athletic tape to stabilize the wrist, but is much easier to use. Great for supporting a TFCC injury during activities like golf, tennis.. anything where the wrist is active. I believe this accelerated my healing from a chronic injury ... show more

Doesn’t last long for price

This brace works well to stop pain from wrist injury. The only problem is that the Velcro wears out after about five months. I wear the brace three times a week for golf and the Velcro no longer holds. At this price, there must be something better. After posting this review, I saw that they have a lifetime guarantee. I contacted customer service and they are sending me a new one at no cost. Very nice people! ... show more
