While not perfect, this kit is a really great value, and perfect for someone just getting started in the world of tattooing. In fact, it's even better than that. I say "better" because it's stocked so well for a kit, and in fact, better than most (even those costing more). The tattoo pen is short & stout, and has good balance, as well as a nice, fat grip area. It's got a working range of 4.0v to 12.0v, and an adjustable stroke length out to 4.0mm. I have to admit that it's noisy, and has significant vibration starting at around 7.0v, but still very workable, particularly for a beginner. I should note that it's adjustable in 1/10th volt increments. Nice. The pen has a 3 button operating system ("+", "-", and "Power"). It's easy and intuitive to operate, and features an outstanding digital LCD readout on the side, facing the artist. The major drawback to this pen has to do with the integral battery, which though rechargeable, is fixed and not removable. That means when it's dead, it's dead. There is no changing batteries to continue, only charge time. This may n ot be an issue when practicing, but it's very limiting if using this pen for actual tattoo work on people. The rest of the kit is very nice, with 20 tattoo needle cartridges, a set of 20 (the most I've seen in any kit!) small inks, 4 sheets of tattoo design thermal transfer paper, 4 half-sheets of very thin synthetic skin for practice, a single set of blue latex exam gloves, a small set of ink caps, a single narrow roll of black grip tape, and an instruction booklet. There's even a nice Wormhole decal to impress your friends. Very nice kit, and an excellent value. I wish it were a bit smoother & quieter, but even as is, a great starter setup.
