Nowhere in the description for this product did it lead you to believe that you would receive anything but the "normal" Canon PowerShot SX740 HS camara. Yet when we started having difficultly with setting up the camara and I started reading on a Canon blog site I started seeing mention of the camara not being compatible in the US. So I looked at the box more closely and sure enough in the corner it says "For Japan Only"! As I said I went back and reread the product information several times and NO WHERE was this mentioned. Yet even though I am purchasing from in the US and it was being shipped to a US address they sent one that is only "For Japan Only"! Really?! So BEWARE ordering this camara online as the Canon Company said that they do not have control over what camaras are sent out through third party retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, etc. ... show more

This camera is worth every single cent. I haven’t been so excited for pictures to be taken of me and to take pictures of others as I have been with this! I love the way photos turn out. The quality of the pictures is too notch and way better than an iPhone. The battery life lasts impressively long. I took a five day trip and used it like crazy but never had to charge it. It came with a nice case that seems pretty durable but isn’t too bulky. The soft case comes with a long lanyard style string too so no worries on dropping it. I LOVE the selfie mode where you can flip the screen. It’s brilliant and I’m just a girl so of course I love selfies haha! The flash is strong and makes a difference even in the daylight. If you’re looking for a digital camera and you have the funds for this, you absolutely should splurge. It’s really really worth it and you’ll love the way your photos turn out. Advice: go on TikTok or instagram and look up what settings to use for the best pictures! ... show more

The camera is great and I'm happy I purchased it. It's small enough to throw in a bag and its intuitive to operate. The flip up screen is super helpful for selfies. The screen is not a touchscreen which makes focusing on your desired subject difficult. The camera often wants to focus on other things than my subject. This issue doesn't resolve when I change the mode or scene type, or when I have the focus set to face tracking and the subject has a face. I often need to take several photos and refocus before the camera understands what should be in focus. I've included photos to demonstrate how some photos are not in focus because the camera didnt ubderstand what the subject should be. All were taken in standard portrait mode or 'auto' with face tracking on. Apart from this, the functionality and quality of the camera is of a level I'm happy with, for the price point. I have other Canon cameras that are at higher price points and quality than this point and shoot, and this one issue is the only frustration or short coming that stands out to me. Something to be aware of with this camera is it applies softening or what might come across as blurring. When it was released, it was Canon's version of skin blurring and was a huge hit, but it means photos by today's standards can be perceived as blurry and undetailed. It almost looks like skin has been edited and cleaned up which can be seen as a bonus since this camera only produces JPG images, not RAW images. JPG images have limited bandwidth for editing on professional applications so having the skin softening already applied to the image is often a selling factor for this particular camera and those not wanting to have to retouch images in external applications. For beautiful social media worthy vivid photos, the flash helps tremendously. If you're looking for highly detailed crispy shots, that may be a challenge with this particular camera if you're photographing in conditions darker than bright daylight. Turning the flash on helps to an extent. I found no improvement with manual focus. The bag it comes with is huge - too big for this camera. You could fit a dozen of these cameras in it so it's not of much use, but I appreciate that the package came with a 64gig memory card capable of taking over 7000 (L)arge size photos, wrist strap, Canon brand battery, and charger for the battery. It's also convenient to transfer photos from the camera via bluetooth or wifi to my phone via Canon's Camera Connect app. I can even bulk delete images remotely, without removing the memory card, which saves time. I purchased this camera to take photos while on vacation, so I spent the extra money to get it delivered in time. I paid $300 more than this same camera sells on Amazon for, with the promise of next day delivery. I ordered on Dec 4th for arrival on the 5th. The package was mailed out but it didn't have overnight shipping. They mailed out the same day I purchased but it wasn't delivered till the 8th because overnight delivery wasn't paid for by the sender. It was standard delivery. When I saw that the expected delivery date had changed, I tried to cancel the order with 'would not arrive on time' but it wasn't an option. It's a fabulous camera and I would have been happy paying through the roof to be able to capture my priceless vacation, but for an everyday camera to throw in my bag, it's not worth what I paid for it (over $900). ... show more
