overall this is a good hair styling gel for men, not too scented and hold is about light to medium. i tried several before coming across this to replace my original gel that's been discontinued. So far it's my favorite.

I bought this for my husband based upon the reviews, because he was looking for a gel that was light, non-greasy and non-sticky. it definitely lives up to the positive reviews for us. My hubby says it works exactly as he needed. He has long, coarse, straight hair and uses it for putting his hair back into a pony tail and controlling "fly-away" hairs. It seems to hold all day at work, but doesn't leave his hair looking greasy or feeling sticky or hard. The smell is light and neutral to me, doesn't smell like a "men's" or a "women's" product. Although I use a different product for my very fine, wavy hair, I've used this on a couple of occasions when I was out of my own gel and it seemed to work well to help tame the "frizzies" and hold curl definition. I normally buy the cheapest gel available at the supermarket or drugstore but for some reason I decided to splurge on this and find out what a higher and Joe product would be like . This costs about three or four times as much as the gel I usually buy . So I was a bit disappointed right away when I tried it because the scent was very subtle. I guess I was expecting something like the wonderful scent you get from the gel at the barbershop. It holds better than my usual gel, but not a lot, so my hair winds up being somewhat less sticky because I have less gel in it.
