For over 30 years, my husband used the Matrix Hold My Body gel on his slicked back hair. They discontinued it a couple of years ago and since then, we've been in the pursuit of finding a gel that is just as close - pourable, light hold, and non-sticky. This is just like the Biolage Gelee he's been using in the meantime, same consistency and hold. This isn't quite what we hoped for so I will continue looking online for a (hopeful) perfect replacement to what he so loved. ... show more

I bought this for my husband based upon the reviews, because he was looking for a gel that was light, non-greasy and non-sticky. it definitely lives up to the positive reviews for us. My hubby says it works exactly as he needed. He has long, coarse, straight hair and uses it for putting his hair back into a pony tail and controlling "fly-away" hairs. It seems to hold all day at work, but doesn't leave his hair looking greasy or feeling sticky or hard. The smell is light and neutral to me, doesn't smell like a "men's" or a "women's" product. Although I use a different product for my very fine, wavy hair, I've used this on a couple of occasions when I was out of my own gel and it seemed to work well to help tame the "frizzies" and hold curl definition.
