Features

  • Instant and Precise Readings: It reads to a depth of approximately 12 mm into the slab. Plus, the current reading can be captured via the hold function
  • Four Measurements: Easily set the wood species from hardwood to softwood you need to measure. Offers a relative moisture content (comparative) measurement
  • No More Smoky, Slow burning Fires: Quickly, easily and affordably find out if pieces of firewood are ready to burn at the woodpile before carry it in
  • Tips one: Why it read 0%, when the wood slab was too dry to register readings, the wood at this moment is an insulator leading to a non-conductive between the two pins
  • Tips two: For best results of wood moisture content, push the pins deep into the material, make sure pins are in contact with the material( wall, wood or hardwood)
  • Tips three: Pins sense and measure along their full length, so that Pins penetrating a dry material through a wet outer surface can read moisture content
  • Longer Battery Life: Low power requirements enable up to 500 tests on one set of AA batteries

  • Works well
Model: MT19B
Great for firewood reveiling how well it has seasoned by the moisture readings. You can select hardwood, softwood, building, etc. Came with 3AAA batteries, storage pouch, booklet, extra pin probes & wrench. Be sure to snug up the pins. It can be a bit difficult pushing into hardwood but it works. Display is easy to read. You can see the difference in readings by probing into a live tree. ... show more

  • Accurate, affordable, and compact.
Model: MT19B
Recommended. When I read the reviews I wasn't sold on it, but even the very expensive ones had shabby reviews so I figured why not give it a try. Good choice!

  • Useless for Woodworking
Model: MT19B
I decided to get a moisture meter for lumber I use in furniture making. Product arrived with a small paper "instructions" sheet that gave very little actual instruction. I tested 20+ pieces of hardwood and softwood lumber in my shop, all but one board read “0.00%”, even with the pins buried fully in the wood. (I then looked on YouTube and learned the pins must be oriented in the same direction as the wood grain, which would be a useful bit of information to include in the package "instructions".) However, even when used as recommended, I could not get readings in hard maple, lacewood, or other dense hardwoods. I did finally get a maple reading by drilling holes in the wood that allowed me to fully insert the pins. To get several readings over the length of a board, I would have to drill multiple holes in the face of the board, and this of course would ruin that piece of wood for making furniture. Further research informed me that pin-type moisture meters only measure the moisture between the pins, which is of course quite shallow. Since much of my lumber is 8/4, 10/4, and 12/4 rough stock which I resaw to make the board thicknesses I want, this means a pinned meter won't tell me anything about how much moisture is deep in the wood where I'll be sawing, and I run the risk of severe warping after I resaw. To get the actual moisture content, you need to use a pinless meter. Pinless meters have been proven to be more accurate and reproducible in their readings than pinned meters, especially with thick pieces of wood. A pinned meter should be fine for folks who are looking at firewood or other uses, but for woodworkers, they are basically useless. I should have done more research before I bought this meter. I have returned this item for refund and have purchased a reliable pinless meter. ... show more
