This is not a precision instrument for serious moisture detection and tracking ... but it's a good enough, quick and cheap way to measure if a moisture issue is getting worse, or better. I'm not too confident of its absolute accuracy, but it's good for comparative readings.

As others have reported it is difficult to read the numeric values outdoors is sun light. But the LED and audible indicators work just fine, so don't really need the exact values most of the time.

Tested it against my Orion 910 $415 tester and the Orion read 8% the Rdinscosd read 17%. This was consistence for most readings. About double the Orion reading up to about 25% then the Rdinscos was at 30%. The Orion was very consistence, the Rdinscos varied about +- 6% testing the same spot more than once. So, If you don't need great accuracy and don't want to spend a bunch of money, this one might work. If you had some oak, maple, pine etc. boards that were kept in your house and were completely dry and acclimated, one could use those as a test sample and then test new wood against these. ... show more
