    • It seems to work.
I was able to use this to locate studs in a shower and install a grab rail. It apparently found the edges of the studs, as it was VERY difficult to drill into the wall. I had a tile drill bit that made it through the tile, but beyond that it ran into something very hard. Not sure if it was plaster or what, but stripped a couple screw heads trying to drive them in. Literally had to use a vice grip on the screw head to turn them 1/4 turn at a time to try to get them tight. I even drilled a slightly larger hole that specified, and it still was nearly impossible to get the screws in tight. (this has nothing to do with the stud finder, but wanted to complain to someone. ha. ) ... show more

Edited/reposted because the Amazon bot screening reviews is stupid. I had been trying to give Amazon the benefit of doubt. I was really disappointed to realize this product needs a 9v battery that’s not included. No where on the description page does it say anything about batteries. So be aware and prepared if you want to use the scanner right away. It appears to work and was easy to use. I got the same results each time I used it - any little differences were more due to my reaction times than the scanner. I’ll still be checking my measurements with another scanner to be safe. ... show more

I needed to install a speed bag platform, so I wanted it rock solid. I've had mixed results with stud finders in the past. This one even located ceiling rafters under a 'popcorn' ceiling. Just move it slowly until the red light comes on. Price is right, it works= value.

It will detect wire or anything else behind the wall i recommend and awl or something else to confirm. Other than that if you follow the instructions kt works well.

I’ll be honest my husband found this product. Always wanting to hang pictures. In other things that need a secure anchor, we needed this. We’ve had one before, but couldn’t find it. But actually, I think my husband just like staying stud finder. He calls me a stud finder that could be questionable.
