  • Great camera for the money.
Style: MR277
I like it very much. It’s durable. Has a nice sensor for what it’s designed. Easily finds leaks, moisture, insulation voids, etc. Took me five minutes to figure out how to transfer pictures from the camera to my I phone via Bluetooth. Remembered couple of reviews mentioning issue with them not uploading correctly. After playing with the camera for five minutes I realized that pictures transfer just fine. It just takes a minute for them to show up on your phone app. So I just submit pictures I choose, then wait a minute for all pictures to complete transfer and then open the FLIR app on my phone to share them. The camera shows completion of image transfer when it submits it, but the phone still needs a moment to receive it and upload it. ... show more

  • No quality control - original and replacement unit both defective
The first unit I received would not turn on. I sent it back, and the replacement unit would freeze up every other time I turned it on, the digital camera only worked intermittently, and the thermal camera was ~10F off with no way to calibrate. I spent an hour on the phone with FLIR customer service and they concluded the second unit was defective and should be returned as well. ... show more

  • Does a reasonably good job of being a moisture meter
Style: MR160
I purchased this as a moisture meter with the added feature of having a visual aid. Does a reasonably good job of being a moisture meter, plus it has a pin probe that connects to the bottom. Opening the package there is a dearth of helpful information, though, and I soon discovered that I had a pre-Oct 2015 version that needed a firmware update. I was missing the palette choice, delete option for captured images, and other advertised features. Also, you need to dive into the root software for the basic operating instructions (hook up the meter to a computer and read what's on the unit). This is the only place you'll find the list of wood species by Group number. Really all very non-intuitive. Finally, when updating the firmware you must use a PC (Windows) computer rather than Mac, otherwise it won't take. The unit is nice and robust, and has a lot of clever features. Just get the firmware update and it will work ok. ... show more

  • Worth the money
Style: MR176
Definitely worth the money. We used this on our boat since we are experiencing some leaks. It allowed us to locate where the leaks were and monitor the improvement after the fix.

  • Overpriced for what it does
Style: MR176
It's a really nice product, I'm a mold assessor. But for $1,200. You can buy the correct tools. For a lot less. This tool is very confusing. It's like learning how to use a computer after you had brain damage. My 3D imaging gun that's $500 has more pixels and works better than this. I have a general tool while moisture meter that cost 50 bucks and it works equally as good as this. I have a temperature humidity tool that cost 60 bucks. It works better than this. See what I'm saying is you got three tools that cost a lot less money than this and they work all equally as good as this and all you have to do on those other tools is turning on button and poke the thing in the wall. The other tool I turn it on I set it on the kitchen counter it tells me the humidity and the temperature of the place. And my 3D imaging gun with infrared all I do is turn it on and point it and press the button and it takes a picture and when I get back to my office I plug it into my computer and I can download the picture from it so much easier. And if one tool breaks you just buy a new one this is so confusing. I am at one man one person one owner of the company. it's very rare people ask me if I have one of these tools. I was on a job about a week and a half ago doing apartments where I live and they're very upscale and expensive and the maintenance guy. Had a maintenance ask me do I have the flir tool. I said no but I have tools that are equal any kind of look down upon me. It wasn't his tool it was the company he works for his tool I tried his tool with my tool and I got the same readings on moisture and temperature and humidity when I check for moisture I just look for numbers that are higher than areas where there's no moisture that it can already tell so areas that have water damage I know the moisture will read higher and areas that don't have water damage it reads lower. Also this is why you're seeing. These prices on this where it says buy like new for $800 biy used in good shape$700. Anyway if the tool works for you. I think that's great and I hope you make a lot of money. This is why I didn't give it five stars. Just because it's overpriced and confusing. ... show more
