  • A Good, Cheap Option
This device is what it is a cheap device to steady any videos your planning on taking. Although I would say far from perfect. But it works. A word of warning though it has no more than just basic instructions and that's on the box. I had to use the photo on this site just to figure out how to position the camera. Also 2 major things, that weighted bar right where it swings. It needs oil. Also the screw that holds the camera in place is a bit too long. I had to cut a piece of the packaging to find a filler piece. Lastly it says it comes with a limited 1 year warranty. One very major problem it has no address anywhere inside or outside the box where to mail it too. So in reality assume no warranty. ... show more

  • A good inexpensive stabilizer
I was looking for an inexpensive stabilizer for my camera. I have a Lumix G4 and film more videos than still photos. Even then, I really don't need a stabilizer that much. Maybe I will use it more now that I have it. Be aware that setting up the positioning of the camera and the weights takes a little patience and I highly recommend watching a video to help you along. This stabilizer might be inexpensive, but it takes some time and sometimes some extra weights and positioning/repositioning to get it working properly. Otherwise, it would have been 5 stars. ... show more

  • For those that can't balance it
I got this stabilizer the other day, and like a bunch of people, I had a problem getting it to maintain a smooth video while walking. I have a tiny action camera that only weighs 2.6 oz. I struggled for most of the afternoon to get it balance so that it would eliminate most of the jitter when I walk. Then, I saw a particular video that provided very detailed instructions on how to properly balance stabilizers. In this video, the guy said that the number one mistake that people make is adding too much weight to the bottom of the stabilizer because it creates a pendulum effect, which is exactly what I was experiencing. After some more experimentation, I found that this stabilizer works best with my camera with no weights attached to the bottom at all! After removing ALL of the weights from the bottom, and setting the correct arm height, almost all of the jitter was eliminated, and I now have nice smooth videos, even when walking on uneven ground. So, if you are having trouble, try reducing the weight on the bottom. If need be, maybe eliminate the weights or replace them with something smaller such as a few large washers. ... show more

  • Really good option for a gimbal stabilizer at a good price
I took this out for a try when it arrived, started with a fast walk, took it to a bit of a run and then got in the car with it and it kept the video fluid and looking like it never a hit a bump, I’m impressed by the quality of video achieved with this gimbal handheld video camera stabilizer. If you’re not familiar with the term gimbal, a gimbal is a tool that uses both intelligent sensors and motors to stabilize and support a camera. It stabilizes the camera as you move it up and down, back and forth or side to side allowing you to get smooth footage or photos. This stabilizer uses 3 separate counter-weights allowing precise adjustments, has a rubber mounting surface and a rubber handle grip. This stabilizer is well made and a great price, very sturdy. It’s made from aluminum alloy which contains almost no iron so it won’t rust, allowing it to be used in water, but it will oxidize and if used in water, this will happen pretty quickly but will also protect it from further corrosion. You may have to spend a few minutes to get the counterweight set exactly right for your camera but it’s worth the time to have your footage look like it was shot by a pro. It’s well made, very sturdy, mine did come with a little bit of a burr in one spot but that was easy to buff out This is a great product for a really good price and it works really well. I’m quite pleased with it. ... show more

  • Could be great, difficult to balance.
This is a great unit for the money, provided you can properly balance it. The threaded hole in my camera is off center, that coupled with it's light weight and the limited counterweight options included, I could not get it balanced without buying other stuff. There are three counterweights included, however in my case, even 1 was too heavy. I went to the hardware store and bought some washers to use instead. That helped, but it still didn't quite do the trick. I ended up returning it and buying a more expensive powered gimbal instead. This unit could be good if you have more patience than I do. ... show more

  • Inexpensive way to get the most out of your old DSLR
You could spend $300 for a full fledged gymbal for your old $300 DSLR camera, or you could save some money and still get the most out of your older and bulkier cameras. Yes it takes some time and patience to dial everything into place and achieve good balance, but it's worth spending the 20 minutes or so that it took me to find the sweet spot. Generally the heavier your camera, the lower you will want to place the counter weight. The threaded nut can be moved around to give you more options to mount the camera as sometimes the lenses placement of the camera cause its center of gravity to be off centered. Over all this is a good product for the price. It's not a professional tool by any mean, but it's also priced right. The metal pieces are anodized which is nice, although the edges can be deburred a little bit more to make it not so sharp in some places. If you're looking for an inexpensive way to get the most out of your older, heavier camera, I would recommend this product. ... show more

  • Hard to use.
This grip seemed like a good purchase, but once I opened the box I was very disappointed. The weights are hard to balance. It doesn't even balance with a Nikon D700 DSLR. Super hard to set up to even start using. Maybe I suck at putting it together. Maybe it sucks as a product. The grip is cheaper than most grips of this style. So you do get what you pay for. I want to be fair and give it some stars for being made of metal. ... show more
