I have been playing the fiddle for three years using an inexpensive shoulder rest. The only adjustment option was a moderate change in the height. Recently, I was experiencing pain around my collar bone and neck while practicing, so I purchased the Wolf Forte Primo Shoulder Rest. It's sturdy. You can adjust the height, and you can bend the bar that has the foam on it. You can also tilt the bar. The foam is thick. You can bend the brackets with the feet to fit your violin, and you can turn the feet to the right and to the left. The feet are covered with thick rubber so they won't scratch your violin. I am very happy with this shoulder rest because I don't have pain anymore. This might be because of the thick foam and because I was able to adjust it to be higher than my previous shoulder rest. Somebody said this shoulder rest is only good for people with long necks, but my neck is not long and it works for me. Somebody else above asked if it would fit a 7/8 violin. I have a 7/8 violin, and it fits it very well. I highly recommend this shoulder rest.

My teacher recommended this shoulder rest on day 1. She uses the same and allowed me to try hers. I fought with my original one for 3 days while waiting for this one to arrive. To be honest, I felt so defeated by the time my new shoulder rest has arrived. I already had violin hickeys forming, and my muscles were so sore and tense from trying to hold my violin properly. When I put on this shoulder rest, everything felt so much more natural, comfortable, and secure. Because I wasn't struggling to hold my violin properly, my sound improved, as did my bowing. I did not have issues with adjusting the height of the shoulder rest. I like that either end swivels to "collapse" my rest for easier storage. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews here. It certainly helped me.

well, if this works for you it works for you! I’m a violin student at uni— and I’ve tried almost every generic/common shoulderest brand you can think of. That video of Benedetti with a trash bag of her shouldrests is a big mood. But, man. WOLF HAS MY BACK(my neck literally tho). It never lets me down and if it works it works! If it don’t— u can probably find someone else who needed this rest! I like this model becuase it doesn’t have the screw extender that damaged an old violin of mine we it scratched the back by accident… so this one is basically almost the same but without that issue. It’s bendy, firm sponge, and pretty sturdy rubber grasps the violin well. The legs have a lot of room to extend if u are a long necked person! This shoulderrest does have some weight to it when compared to other shoudlerests like kun— but I promise it won’t bother you! And also: for its price point, it attempts to offer you that flexibility to adjust it as much as possible with high quality materials. God I have regretted so many purchases of shoulderests over the years only to come back here again. Wolf, I’m sorry for ever doubting you. You were my day one 😭🫶my violin and my upper body loves you forever.

This shoulder rest couldn't have taken more than two dollars to manufacture, and it's selling for thirty dollars. This is one of the best shoulder rests, but I think prices for shoulder rests are generally high and this should be closer to $15 or $20. It's basically a strip of foam attached to a moderately thick strip of metal with legs. The foam is nice and firm, the leg sleeves are coarse rubber, and it doesn't grip very well, but it never falls off because of the good design. It allows me to play with the violin more to the left and nearly parallel to the angle of my body. The Fom shoulder rest I had before couldn't stay on my shoulder for fifteen minutes, and it could not support me. I have a long neck, and other shoulder rests like Kun and Fom don't work for me.

I thought the Kun shoulder rest was just fine, until my college professor told me I was clutching the violin up to my next to make a perfect fit with it. He then told me to go and get a Wolf Forte Primo, and folks, that's just it, it has changed my life. Not only does it fit PERFECTLY for ANYONE's shoulder/neck etc, but there's no strain anymore, my neck doesn't hurt, I don't feel like the violin will slip as I shift, and I have absolutely no complaints. It also doesn't dampen the sound at all. My violin resonates even more than it did with the Kun. Curious, but true! I have recommended it to every player I know, and let's face it. Who is happy with their shoulder rest? Pretty much no one, unless you have a Wolf Forte Primo. Seriously, my shifting and playing are tremendously better. It does all the work of stabilizing the violin for me. COMPLETELY WORTH THE MONEY.

I was surprised at how adjustable this shoulder rest it. It is very easy to bend and make it fit just right. However that is also the problem. It does not hold the shape and has to be adjusted everytime you put it on. I was constantly adjusting and readjusting. I finally decided it was not for me. I want something sturdier.
