It is sturdy and substantial! when we tried to expose the wire it stripped easily. Very affordable, easy to see the color. You can either dig in the ground or hang it on the field fence. We purchased this wire to replace our existing wire (different brand) that broke. We have used the wire to cover around 1/4 of an acre and there was a some left over. So, we are needing to redo our entire property for the dog fence line. Did some searching and came upon this. First of all, great value for the money. Why these are so expensive is beyond me. So, I was happy finding it at a cheaper price. However, upon arrival, the wire is seems to be simply wire they purchased in bulk and used old Petsafe wire holders to use. It is not their own packaging. Secondly, these are used wire holders. One is almost completely fallen apart. That is going to make it a bit more difficult to use. But alas, it is just wire that will go into the ground, so not all hope is lost. Hope this all works. ... show more

This is actual wire while the thicker gauge stuff is cable. The cable bends and flexes much easier and if you have the money to buy the $2,000 lawn mower I don't suggest skimping on this... you can, and the wire will work 100%, but after burying 3,000 feet of cable and 300 of wire I can attest that the wire feels cheaper and is noticeably more challenging. ... show more

used a chainsaw to make a groove in the ground. Buried wire in groove. Works great. Keeps my dogs in my yard and not in the neighbors yard.
