Installation was simple, the rack feels nice and sturdy. Width worked really well for my Toyota Sequoia. Had to remove one section as my spoiler got in the way, otherwise it was a perfect fit.

This thing is huge! LoL. I purchased as an upgrade to my other rack (Rola brand) on a 2015 Ford Explorer XLT. This one is much larger and has much more room. The installation was a breeze, since I already had previous experience installing. Due to the size, ensure to put it together outside (not in a small apartment like me LoL). All the required tools were there along with the attachments, and everything feels well-built and durable, obviously I would not stand on this or attach a top tent but that being said, it feels very strong. Being a platform, I found the noise, especially on the highway, to be a lot more reduced than my previous rack with the basket walls. Due to the size, I did find some slight wobble, since obviously the rack extended beyond my roof bars and the front mount, but I found this easily fixed when I attached additional mounting brackets to the roof bars. The extended length also allowed me to attach a front, 32" offroad light, bottom mounted beneath the platform bar, which also kept the platform from wobbling during rough terrain. I love the look of this rack, and it also allowed much more room for additional offroad lights (front, rear, left and right-side lights, etc.). The diameter of the bar is also much more convenient to find the right mounts without going through a bunch of rubber adapters. Very well worth the money! I was also able to attach my side awning with no hardship at all. *I'll post picture once I find them on my phone ... show more

Platform is exactly as described. It’s pretty sturdy. Assembling it and mounting it to the rack on my jeep took maybe 40 minutes total. Drove an hour and a half total last night on the highway after mounting it and didn’t notice any additional road noise. I will not be transporting anything on it for 4 more days, but I don’t anticipate any issues. The platform has plenty of rings welded onto it for hooks, bungees, etc and it came with a big bungee cargo net. ... show more

I recently bought this product and attached it to the roof of a Yukon XL and drove my family of 7 down the east coast of the US. I must say I am quite happy. After taking many long roadtrip with a giant plastic egg style roof carrier, we decided to switch to this flat rack. Installation was easy and I find if you use the rust protection gel that is included with the shipment that you will not have trouble with rust. This product can hold a lot of gear! I bought the full length version which fits perfectly on the roof of my large SUV. I also bought an Amazon basics roof bag, plus 3 large Samsonite duffle bags. I left one section of the rack off during assembly, but I plan to add it on for future trips. One suggestion I have is to consider purchasing a wind guard with it. This does not make noise when gear is loaded, but without gear it makes a whiring noise. A wind guard should correct this from what I understand. Overall, this was a great purchase. Great platform. It is contructed with quality materials and has ample tie down options. The assembly and installation was a breeze and it attached to my crossbar with ease. I especially surprised to discover the anti rust additive that was included, it was a very thoughtful addition.

The rack is simple to assemble and mount. The quality is what you’d expect for the price point. There is splatter from the welding and the powder coating doesn’t strike me as the most durable but is passable. Comes with a tube of sealant to put on all the welds and butt connections. I’d recommend vinyl gloves and an acid brush to apply it. The rack itself is lightweight enough for one person to install and remove yet solid and stable when mounted. Lots of tie down points and adequate space for gear. I haven’t heard any noise or whistling at highway speeds. Used it for an overland trip right after receiving and mounting, was very happy with the overall performance. For the money, this rack will get the job done. ... show more

Pros: sturdier than expected, available in 90” length, looks great Cons: missing parts, mounting brackets are cheap and awkward, major quality control issues, I wish it was available in at least 50” width, not worth the price I purchased this 90x47 design on sale for $170. When I received it I was missing two of the connector tubes for the middle basket rods. I called Amazon and they promptly sent out another full rack and told me to send back whatever I didn’t need. It took an additional week to receive the second parts rack and as I looked over the rack I began to regret my decision. The tubes that connect the separate pieces have a bit of play, which makes me uncomfortable with the structural integrity in the middle of the rack. Thankfully I didn’t have any issues with stripping the screws when assembling the rack, but I definitely took my time knowing other people had issues. The week passed and the parts rack gets delivered. I go through the new parts and realize this box is missing one of the mounting brackets. Thankfully I had the four that came with the original(the 90” should come with 6 mounts in my opinion) but had they sent this out to another customer they’d only have three mounts. Then I realize the mounting brackets in the new box don’t have washers like the first box did. Seemed odd. I assemble it on my roof in two halves to line it up better. I expected some modification since this is a universal rack, but these mounting brackets are bulky and awkward so it took trial and error to get them on. One of the mounting brackets stripped during adjustment so I had to take one from the new rack pile. After getting it all up and aligned I realized I’m going to have to go to the store and buy some sheet metal to make an additional locking point, like a long washer, to hold it all together in my situation. The twist on nuts are cool, but I worry that they will loosen with time so I’ll be replacing them with locking nylon nuts. Overall I wish I would have just returned this originally, or better yet, bought a flat aluminum rack with a much higher weight rating for a little more money in the first place. At this point it would be too much work to try to return both racks, especially since the original rack box was thrown out in the week it took to get the replacement. I will say that I like the look and now that it’s assembled and mounted, it feels much more sturdy than when I was putting it together. Overall I’m not happy with this purchase, but I’ll update this review if my option changes. It was so much work to put it together and get it mounted, but I may just take it off and try to sell it to salvage some of the money I spent and put it towards a better rack. ... show more
