Description

The Whistler CR73 radar detector provides total band protection against all radar guns used today - including X-band, K-band, Superwide Ka-band and laser. Total laser detection identifies Laser Atlanta Stealth mode, Laser Ally, and the new LTI Truspeed S. It delivers 360 degrees of complete perimeter protection, detecting signals from the front, sides, and rear. The digital icon display and signal strength indicator will let you know how close to the signal source you are while the POP Mode has advanced speed detection capability that responds to brief bursts of radar. The CR73 also offers Traffic Flow Signal Rejection (TFSR) technology to help eliminate false alerts from radar based traffic monitoring systems. This detector has other features such as real voice alerts, setting saver, dim/dark mode, 3 city modes, alert priority, vehicle battery saver, and VG-2 detection. Measures 4.46" L x 2.83" W x 1.26" H, and includes the radar detector, a 12V power cord, windshield bracket kit, and a user guide.

    • The CR73 is complete junk but let me tell you why

This is the crappiest radar detector I've ever owned and I've owned many. Took a chance on this Whistler because I've owned some in the past and they functioned well. This one is junk and I don't think it's about luck, it's poorly designed. Here's what happens. As an engineer, my guess, I didn't tear it apart cause I'm returning it, but from what it's doing, it has a pretty crappy primary signal processor which grabs the initial signal and declares it 'Ka-Band' for example. So you get a Ka alert (police radar). However, that signal is then sent to a secondary processor or software which further analyzes the signal and discovers it's actually the parking assist radar in a nearby car- so it then supersedes the initial Ka-band alert with what it calls an 'F' alert with its own double chirp. So, LOL, no worries, wasn't a cop. Fun huh ? No! Not when everyone and their brother has cars with those features so the darn thing is going "KA!" then 5 seconds later ... "Psyche! Just kidding." But it gets worse because at least the prime processor at least thought it saw Ka-band RADAR ... it was wrong ... but at least it initially discerned it as police radar ... thus you get the ALERT until further processing confirms it's a false alarm. However, this poorly designed piece of junk, will actually alert you with a simple 'F' alert ... FROM THE PRIMARY PROCESSOR ... !! Why ??? Why do you alert me to something you already know is not police radar? My guess is it's one of those things where the design requirements were lost in translation to the build team in China whose engineers don't own cars themselves. Lastly, this is weird but it might be emitting a Ka-band signal ... its own radar signal on the Ka spectrum. This would be illegal because by transmitting on the same freq as cop RADAR it would in effect function as a RADAR jammer. I'll leave it to someone else to verify but when my CR73 came on in my driveway, two neighbor's RADAR detectors alerted Ka-band. Not sure what detectors they using other than simply commercial stuff so can't comment on the quality of their discreet signal processing. A RADAR Detector should remain silent until it detects an actual police RADAR. Period. End of story. I've now purchased a Cobra RAD 380 which was only $20 more and it's night and day different. This radar detector is very accurate. It will let you know well in advance of radar. You can customize it the way you want it to detect. Would buy again. The price is very good compared to other detectors that do the same thing. It has advanced technology in detecting all types of radar.

WE HAVE VIRTONIC LASER BASED SPEED CAMERAS HERE IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA VERY HARD TO DETECT I HAVE 2000 $ LASER INTERCEPTOR EG FOUR HEAD ARRANGEMENT ON FRONT OF VEHICLE AND IT ONLY ALERTED SAY COUPLE SECONDS BEFORE THIS UNIT.
