Early times but wowed so far + set-up info

Added: 1) The settings are not real intuitive and sometimes conflict with manual, and the provided manual is just C quality. But Alexa shopping has answers for most questions. Except... 2) if you prefer digital owner manuals, you won't find downloadable owner manual on Whirlpool site. This is a licensed product (made in China). So much for American brand. ;) A deep search for digital manual sends you to big box dealer with initials HD. It's available there for download. 3) Diesn't affect my rating. You have to work with the settings more than we should (mediocre manual) but the machine does the job nicely once figured out. We're keeping our previously 65%-80% humidity area at 40% now--huge improvement. Original review: Been running <18 hours, already dumped 8 gallons. We're in very humid NC (outside humidity currently 100%). As I researched possibly adding whole house dehumidifier (~$3K-$5K), Google AI helped us identify the real issue is our "micro climate" in our master bath on the heavily shaded N side of our home. Decided to try this first and it paid off in 3 hrs with an almost immediate reduction in that area from 87% humidity to 55%. Easy to set up. Have it on the counter between sinks in master bath, tolerable footprint, easy on the eyes, easy to empty. "Continuous" higher fan setting for first 24 hours is just white noise; it's 12 feet from our bed and didn't keep us awake, and huge drop in humidity (now at 41%) has already eased asthma. Pretty Impressive

I know a brand name is more expensive, but I went with it (Whirlpool) anyway. These work great! I left it on continuous run ("CO") for two days so it really sucked the air dry then adjusted it to 55%: this thing will fill up the tank every day! So much nicer in the whole house now without all that humidity. Note: If you leave it on CO for a day or two, the air will feel slightly warm, this is from the unit drying the air over the drying coil for a long period. Perfect for shoulder season

I was somewhat skeptical that this machine could dehumidy our entire one-level 1800ish square foot house, but it's been working amazingly for the past few weeks (confirmed by putting hygrometers in multiple rooms) We live in the Pacific Northwest where the weather is mild enough in the fall that our HVAC system simply doesn't run often enough to deal with the humidity generated from bathing, cooking and generally breathing and existing. Although we use our bathroom and kitchen fans religiously, they just aren't enough on their own when the temp and humidity are around the same temperature inside and outside. This has solved our problem and we're no longer worried about the humidity level being a mold risk indoors. According to a kill-o-watt, this machine uses around 350 watts when it is actively dehumidifying. I was worried it would be annoying to have to dump the bucket, but after the initial continuous run we only need to empty it 1-2 times a day. It has a nice carry handle inside of it which makes it easy to carry to a sink and empty. My only nitpick about the design is that the bucket needs to be emptied right-handed due to the position of the float valve. ... show more

Used, broken, and terrible customer service from Whirlpool

I followed the instructions right out of the box, but the unit was clearly used. The attachments were already assembled, and the bottom of the machine was dirty. I would have ignored that if it actually worked, but it shuts off completely after just three minutes. I tried resetting it for five consecutive days with no luck.To make matters worse, Whirlpool's customer service is a joke. I was put on hold indefinitely on the phone. When I tried their website chat, they sent me a form demanding my credit card information to charge me a $65/month subscription fee just for technical troubleshooting! I gave up and immediately processed a return through Amazon. Avoid this product. ... show more

So far, pretty good!

I bought the 32 pint dehumidifier, and I do like it. It was smaller than I expected it to be, and I’m still not sure if I will keep it due to its size (may need to go with the bigger one). I live in an apartment and there’s no floor drain I can let it drain into, but I don’t hate having it on my island kitchen counter and letting it drain into my sink. It would be hard to do that with a larger size, but it’s liftable. I like that I can carry it instead of rolling it across my floor and don’t have to worry about frustrating my neighbor below me at night. I also love the cover for the fan! And that you can have it oscillate or stop it in the direction you want it to flow towards. That’s what made me want to get this model. What I don’t like: it is a bit noisy when I turn the fans up, and that there isn’t an option to dim the light. However I always have air purifiers on, so I can live with the noise, and if I really need to dim that light I can just cover it with some foil tape temporarily (I’m very sensitive to light and it can be too stimulating for me at night, but it’s probably fine for others if they can sleep with a night light) I kind of want to get another little one to keep in my bedroom/bathroom area, and keep another in my kitchen to drain continuously instead of one big one. Great Dehumidifier

Works beautifully. It ran almost constantly fir about 3 weeks until it took the moisture out of my house. After that, I empty it about every 10-14 days. It's perfect. The roller wheels are great.
