Description

From the author of Love Unexpected comes an all new age-gap forbidden romance. Three years ago, Jacob Price walked away. After a whirlwind steamy affair, my father's best friend broke my heart. He told me things were too complicated. Messy. Wrong. That we could never be together. I knew he loved me but the fear of ruining our family was too great. With too much at stake, he sacrificed our hearts and ended it. Now, he's back and he still wants me. He still loves me. But now, I'm engaged to another man. Read more

  • Sinful😈SpicyđŸŒ¶ Forbidden 🍒 Amazingness!! đŸ€©
Format: Kindle
Oh QB Tyler, My Astonishing Angel of Angst. You have done it once again. What Was Meant to Be has whipped it’s way right into this gals heart. A staggering and bewitching story that will have you stunned from the start all the way to the explosive ending. If you even mention a forbidden age-gap I practically start drooling. đŸ€€GAH! They are so my jam, yall! The heat, the angst, the sneaking around. HOLY HOT HADES!! đŸ”„đŸ„”đŸ”„Don’t even get me on a roll about QB Tylers dynamically explosive 🧹 love scenes. I don’t know how she does it but she always manages to blend this perfect amount of tender and soul-uniting moments with down and dirty, toss them under goods they are ruined now, moments. She just casts đŸȘ„ her literary spell on me and I’m entranced and under her spell until the last syllable of the epilogue. I really loved all the characters. Well okay not all *cough, cough ParkerđŸ€Ź) Jacob, Kevin, and Michelle have this amazingly close friendship that has spanned years. As godfather to Kevin and Michelle’s two children, Jacob just fit right in as a piece of the family puzzle. The dynamics of all that could change when the once innocent way he felt about Whitney changes when he has a little too much to drink and stays over at Kevin and Michelle’s. Whitney reveals that she has been crushing on him for a long time. She isn’t a little girl anymore. She is a beautiful woman and totally off limits. Everyone knows that forbidden fruit is always the yummiest! 🍑🍒 Guilt, fear, and loyalty leads to a life changing decision and double dose of heartbreak for our couple. Even if the road was paved with good intentions it can still be one heck of a bumpy ride. You do not want to miss a paragraph of the heart-wrenching emotions, the angst, and the steam. So full of frustration, lip biting banter, and sinfully wicked chemistry?! OMG the chemistry. A tantalizingly taboo tale of inevitable love that just may have you wondering, can a relationship that has the power to hurt so many people really be What Was Meant to Be? Well in this case
I say yes, yes, one thousand times yes!! Five Stars for the H3 Effect! ⭐✚⭐✚⭐✚⭐✚⭐ 💔Heart Break ✔ đŸ˜©Hangover ✔ đŸ„°Happy Ever After ✔ ... show more

Format: Kindle
What Was Meant To Be was an enjoyable and angsty taboo romance book. It is dual POVs of the main characters (Jacob Price and Whitney Monroe) and has some great tropes like: an age gap, father’s best friend, godfather/goddaughter, a second chance and a forbidden romance. Also, there is cheating in this book but it does not occur between the main characters. I would highly recommend though, checking the other content and trigger warnings before reading. The overall premise was quite enjoyable; there were some heartbreaking, angsty, amusing, and heartfelt moments. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I really liked the forbidden/taboo aspect in this book as well. I will say though, there were a few subplots that could have been further explored upon. The romance between Jacob and Whitney was very spicy. I loved how devoted and obsessed Jacob was with her even after their 3 year separation. The tension and chemistry between them was off the charts. Again, the spice was definitely the main highlight of this book; just so intense, hot and kinky. There were also snippets of Jacob and Whitney’s relationship in the past throughout the story, which I also really appreciated. Being able to read some of their history and how much they meant to each other made their romance more intense. However, their present relationship did feel mainly physical at times. So I would have liked just a bit more relationship building in the present or more moments that showed them getting to re-know each other again after their separation. Their secret relationship and how it was exposed was unfortunate, Whitney’s ex-fiancĂ© was absolutely horrible for what he did. The ending and last few chapters were quite rushed and resolved a bit too quickly, but the epilogue was really sweet. Overall, just a very fun and steamy read. ... show more

  • The Queen is back with another sinfully sexy taboo story đŸ”„
Format: Kindle
Did I read this book in one go? Yes. Am I currently a puddle of feelings over Whitney and JP? Also yes. I tried SO HARD not to binge this all at once, but like all of QB’s other books I just couldn’t make myself stop. Full review to come, just know you’re only plans on November 10th should be to read this book!! Updating to add: 1. If this is your first QB Tyler book, buckle up buttercup. You’re about to fall down the rabbit hole that is her backlist of sinfully sexy taboo stories (sprinkled with a couple not taboo but no less sexy / angsty) 2. In case you were wondering, I’M STILL A PUDDLE OF FEELINGS The love Whitney and JP have for each other even after how much time had passed gives me all the warm fuzzy heart feelings. I really loved seeing the flashback scenes to when they were sneaking around years before. đŸ«¶đŸ» and the present day sneaking around
đŸ”„ The back and forth of will they/won’t they (which we all knew was a matter of WHEN and not IF), their banter, chemistry, dynamic, and the constant fear of them getting caught before they could come clean on their own
. it’s really no surprise I couldn’t stop reading. My heart was pounding for the last 25% just waiting for the shoe to drop. Not a single thing played out how I expected even though I’ve been reading QB’s books for years. It takes a special kind of talent to have as many books as she does and still be able to surprise her readers. I could ramble on and on about how much I loved this book and all the reasons why, but I’ll end with this: if you love taboo stories, you’ll love What Was Meant To Be. It has age gap, parents best friend/godfather, daddy kink, and second chance romance 💕 ... show more

  • Taboo and forbidden, just wanted more
Format: Kindle
Can you say forbidden? Q.B. Tyler likes to give us forbidden and a whole lot of sex to go with it. And What Was Meant to Be definitely hit that all around. Parents’ best friend and your godfather? Ok, then. This book had been sitting on my kindle since it released in late 2022 and I figured it was time to go down the rabbit hole. Jacob is back in town after spending the last 3 years in Mexico working and running away from a woman that was off limits. But he's heard she is engaged to be married and he just can't let her go through with it. She is his, after all. But maybe she has moved on without him. After 3 years, Whitney is ready to move on. She gave a man that she thought she loved all of herself and he ran away from her. They hadn't spoken in 3 years and Whitney needed more. Needed love, needed support and needed to succeed in her own right. When JP shows up, he brings a slew of memories and attraction with him. Has Whitney truly moved on? Does Jacob really want Whitney or does he just want what he can't have? I am all for the forbidden and pushing the limits, but I felt the storyline would've worked without Jacob/JP being Whitney's godfather. The man that was the second person to hold her after being born. The man that was her father figure growing up. It left a little bad taste in my mouth with that title alone. So, I chose to just forget about that and read it as a love triangle. With that, I understood their attraction and wanted to root for them, especially with Whitney's fiancĂ©'s history. He wasn't the best person. But the only thing I really saw between Whitney and JP was the physical. I wasn't sure where their chemistry was beyond that. The mental connection was never really displayed. Overall, I liked the angst and the push and pull of Whitney and JP. I also liked the added dimension of the parents being involved in their relationship and I knew it was doomed. It had to be. I tried imagining me being in their shoes and it was not pretty. If you're ok with the taboo relationship and lots of physical scenes, you'll enjoy this one. It is definitely fire! I just wanted more of an emotional connection between the main characters. I know it had to be there and they knew they loved one another, but I wanted to see AND feel it on ALL levels. I still enjoyed it, just wanted to feel it more. ... show more

  • What a wild ride!
Format: Kindle
Q.B. Tyler, unsurprisingly, did it again! This boo blends the taböo and delicious perfectly! It’s a gift she has of making it all make sense when there should be NO clarity and HEA, she makes it happen. Bravo! This book was full of taböo situations that SHOULD have come off salacious but ended up sweet. Jacob and Whitney are couple goals. The chemistry and stĂ«am levels were off the chain hot AF! Packed so full of yummy scenes I was guaranteed something to make me fan myself VERY frequently throughout the story AND still had story! Usually it’s either straight smĂŒt, which I LOVE, or story with a little
whelp, as always with W.B., this had it all wrapped in one juicy story. I tried to listen and read but once I started it was hard to stop and wait to be in my car to listen as o was fully immersed in the story from page one. Also, I wasn’t a huge fan of one of the narrators unfortunately. J.F. Harding always brings the heat and passion to his reading but I couldn’t get into Juniper Young for this role. Just don’t mess well for me. All in all, loved this book from page one and I love how I can always come back to this author and not be disappointed. ... show more

  • Gorgeous
Format: Kindle
Q. B. Tyler is and will always be my go to for insanely hot taboo romance. And this one certainly didn’t disappoint. Five chili peppers and five stars. The history between the mmc and his friends feels real and deep, genuine in a way many authors can’t quite evoke. I adore the relationship the fmc has with her family, but most especially with her protective big brother and cousin, who were the ones to support her in the darkest times of her life. The spice is absolutely top tier, but fair warning if you’re not into pegging. It only happens once and it is ✹Perfection✹, but I wouldn’t want anyone to stumble across it accidentally if it isn't to your taste. On that same note, this book does contain infidelity, though not between the mains. The angst is deliciously painful, the spice is ✹chef’s kiss✹ and the author does not shy away from the not-so-nice implications of the mcs’ taboo relationship. All in all, another fantastic read from an author who has yet to disappoint me. ... show more

  • Authentic Age Gap relationship:Achieved
Format: Kindle
I loved this book, and found it to have extreme emotional depth and nail-biting angst tha makes me tear thru a book in a short amount of time. Age Gap romances aren’t everyone’s cup of tea,but I ate this up! I love spice just as much as the next reader, but the relationship between the two main characters was not “all style, and no substance.” I could feel the pining and the yearning from them to be together. The obstacles both emotional, and familial in nature that had to be overcome in order for them to finally achieve the open and honest relationship they’d worked towards, was a pleasure to read, and to root for. QB Tyler has provided another novel I’ll reread again and again. ... show more

  • Overall, a great story
Format: Kindle
I love this author and I enjoy almost all of her works. Overall, the story was great. I just had a couple complaints. First off when there’s an age gap romance I need the younger FMC to be mature. I didn’t really feel that way about her. Usually, I’m OK with age gap romances if they’ve lived a tough life or just been very intelligent or very mature and she really didn’t have any of those traits. I didn’t even believe that she was capable of finishing law school to be honest. She was incredibly emotionally, insecure and immature and she just didn’t come across as someone that I believe could be with an older man or make him happy. My only other complaint was something that happened in the bedroom between the two of them where he gave up control. That’s not something I find attractive in a dominant man and not something a dominant man would allow. There was nothing submissive about Jacob to allow that to happen. Made absolutely no sense. It was like something on a list she was trying to check off as an author and throw in a random book. ... show more
