I seldom write product reviews, but this tiller deserves it. Bought it to replace a 21 cc gas Mantis tiller, the clutch in which I think died. I have always been old school, “gas-powered-is-stronger-than-electric” when it comes to yard tools, so my hopes weren’t too high. I could not have been more pleasantly surprised. The motor on this Westinghouse is a beast! Never bogs down, tremendous torque for its size. I’m only tilling raised garden beds, so nothing bedrock-y, but it puts the Mantis to shame. Plus, it has wider tines, so more soil gets churned up per revolution. The only “negative” that I have is that it’s a mess-maker: tilled soil spills out the sides of the bonnet and goes everywhere. I’d prefer if the bonnet were a bit more rounded/extended/cupped, but with some cardboard strips and duct tape, I rigged some makeshift bonnet extenders which worked fine, kept the tilled soil in the box. This is likely not a problem if you’re tilling flat, open ground, and are not concerned about flinging dirt into the gravel garden pathways (or the pool). But with the light weight of this thing, coupled with its “fear no dirt” power and attitude, I can’t bring myself to short it a star just because a byproduct of that power is tossing churned-up dirt everywhere. I have been pleasantly surprised by this machine. I didn't want to purchase a big, bulky, gas powered machine due to limited storage space. I was initially concerned about how well this tiller would work because it is light weight but this machine is very capable of getting the job done. I found that there is a lot of bouncing around until the blades dig into the dirt. This was a concern particularly when working around the wire fence in my garden as the blades bounced into the fence a couple of times. The motor is powerful and the steel blades didn't bend when I unearthed a few small rocks. A little sturdier tire held on with more than a cotter pin would definitely be a plus. All in all I found this to be a great rototiller for my garden and worth the price I paid. ... show more

May not last long if it keeps jumping on me. I can feel the motor bog in the trenches. Lowered to one star because the blades get tangled with grass and it gets so hot that it turns into a smoking compost.

Great product. Did my research before purchasing. This is the right size for the price. This product made my yard work into fun work. If I didn't purchase this, it would have been extensive time and labor to perform the task. Light weight, easy to assemble, easy to use, not complex--I don't like complex with yard work. Great Tiller! The tiller was easy to assemble, straight from the box it took me less than 5 minutes to put it together. I used it to till up a good size section of my yard to put down pavers and this tool made the project a breeze. It dug into the ground easily and the weight was just right; not too heavy to make it burdensome but not too light that it feels like it would break. The blades were easy clean after I was done.
