This is a nice and clever mixer for somewhat lighter-duty tasks (where it’s really not worth the hassle of setting up the stand mixer). It includes standard beaters, a whisk, dough hooks, and an immersion blender. The instructions are brief but helpful, and I found everything to be pretty intuitive. The attachments (both the standard ones and the blender) were easy to attach securely and released easily when the release buttons were activated. . The LED light is not super bright, but it is a nice little addition that makes it a bit easier to see what the mixer is doing. The immersion blender was the thing that made me want to check this out. It’s fairly light-duty, but it does work well enough and it isn’t a hassle to get it to work (you just need to press the “turbo” button). It’s kind of a gimmick, but a useful one (and one that doesn’t change how the standard mixer parts work). The storage case is sturdy, and makes the whole unit easy to store (it holds the immersion blender attachment, beaters, whisk, and dough hooks, and has a notch in the side so the cord can also fit). It’s a great option if you have limited space (especially including an immersion blender and dough hooks). For around $30, it’s an excellent value.

My hand mixer died last year, so I got a counter-top mixer to replace it. That is awesome, but it is also quite cumbersome when I just want to do a little mixing. So when I saw this West Bend hand mixer I ordered it. I really wasn’t expecting it to be all that heavy-duty able to do much more than the simple mixing of cake batter. My expectations were far below the capabilities of this hand mixer! I got it today and proceeded to run it though its paces. It came with a pair of dough hooks. I really didn’t think that they would work that well, expecting them to be difficult to control and that they would bog down from the heaviness of the dough. So, I made some pierogi dough with it – not much, just enough to make 17 pierogi (3/4 cup milk and enough flour). I was surprised at how easily it mixed the flour into the dough and worked it. It was easy to hold the mixer as it did this because of the counter-rotating hooks. I did it all at the lowest setting except for occasional trying at the higher settings just to see if they would work (they did). Then I used the whisk to make some whipped cream. It worked fine, but I did find that I wished it had a slower setting. When starting out at the lowest setting it did splash the cream around more than I would have liked, but it quickly started to thicken, and I had no problem in finishing it. I put the standard mixing blades in and ran them around. They didn’t clank or anything, but I had nothing to mix with them, so that’s all the testing I did. The blades are of a thinner steel than the 20-year-old mixer that died on me last year, but I don’t think they are such as to cause a problem with durability. Then I hooked up the Immersion Blender to the mixer. Wow! This comes with an immersion blender. How did I miss that when I ordered it! There is a disk on the back of the mixer that you remove (it’s attached to the mixer with a short cable and it slides into a slot under the mixer for secure storage). The blender just snaps into place, and you hold the mixer vertically to run it. It runs well and is easy to hold using the mixer handle. The only caution I would have with this is that you have to be careful to keep the power cord out of the way (as it is attached to the mixer near the point where the blender fits into the mixer body). There are -two- buttons to press to release the blender attachment. I thought I broke something as I was pressing one of those buttons and couldn’t remove the attachment. I guess that’s a good reminder to read the directions! This comes with a clear plastic storage container in which you can place all of the attachments and then securely click the mixer in place on the top. That is a wonderful feature! No more: “Do you know where the mixing blades are?” Finally, this mixer is solidly built. It is not light, which bodes well for its longevity, but it’s also not so heavy that you are going to get tired of holding it before you’re finished with what your mixing. It has an LED light that shines right on the beaters, which I didn’t notice (until I read through the sales site again), but that is a handy feature if you don’t have enough light in your kitchen. All in all, I am very glad that I ordered this. There is nothing that I don’t like about this (other than I wish that it had a slower speed, and I can manage that). It certainly is a good deal for the price and for the brand. I recommend it to you.

I don't have a lot of counter space, so I have to keep my heavy stand mixer in a cabinet. It is a lot to take it in and out of the cabinet, and I often have to ask my husband for help. I also needed an immersion blender. I saw this product and I thought it would be perfect. I can take it out and use it quickly for smaller mixing jobs, and have an immersion blender at the same time. I've been using mixers since I was 10 years old. I took it out and I started using it without looking at the directions. I was pleasantly surprised at the LED light when I was mixing up a batch of cookies. It helped me see where I was mixing. It has a turbo button that gives you a temporary burst of speed when it is pressed - although I don't think it did anything at the highest speed. It comes with a whisk and a pair of dough hooks. They are a bit on the thin side, but that should not be an issue for me as I am using this mixer for lighter-duty things. I did have to read the directions to figure out how to get it in the stand and how to attach the immersion blender. The immersion blender attaches on the end after you remove the cap. It works well. I like the snap-on plastic container. It holds everything securely. The only complaint I have is that the cord goes in the plastic container with the attachments. I am a bit OCD and I will probably wash the attachments before I use them every time because I don't consider the cord clean. But that is a minor complaint. I could wrap the cord around the mixer handle if it bothered me that much, but it is not that big of a deal. I am happy with this product and I recommend it.
