  • perfect for my needs
Style: Basket
I recently got a Weber charcoal grill. I am a vegetarian so I also bought a vegetarian grilling cookbook. A "vegetable grill basket" was referred to in many of the recipes. So I ordered this. I am quite happy with this. It does not take up the full amount of space on my grill but it is big enough to cook food for two people. If you were so inclined, you could use this on one side of a grill (say the 22 inch diameter ones) and put something else like veggie burgers on the other side. It is sturdy metal. I cut the vegetables quite large so I didn't have much trouble with stirring, but if smaller pieces are your preference, it is possible to bend up the sides to make them higher (it will not be easy, but it *is* possible). It is shiny metal when you first get it but after about one use, it is pretty stained. It gets a finish rather like a seasoned wok. Which is honestly pretty much what was done since I cooked over an open flame with oils (marinated tofu and vegetables). It was small enough to fit in my kitchen sink for scrubbing. Anyway, I know this is going to get a lot of use. It is so much more convenient than skewers (which I also have) because you don't have to take all the time to skewer things, for one, and secondly it can be used for things that don't skewer well, like cauliflower. This is exactly what I needed and I am happy with the purchase. ... show more

  • You need one of these!!
Style: Basket
I have no idea why I haven't ever had one of these! This is arguably the best invention anyone may have ever made for my charcoal BBQ. Grilled vegetables taste so delicious when prepared in this basket. I simply cut up whatever vegetables I want to grill, add a little olive oil spray or spray water, then add seasoning - usually just some sea salt - and throw it on the grill. The holes are small enough that juices go out, but the vegetables stay in. Also all the delicious smoke flavor can penetrate and cook the food to deliciousness. I know that some people complain that this is hard to clean. I wonder, why do people clean their grill accessories? Who cares if it is discolored or charred? That is flavor and seasoning on your cooking utensil! Embrace it! I usually just wipe it off or maybe spray a little water over it to make sure its not dusty before use. When it heats up the bacteria will die off. I see it the same as a dutch oven. I also just store the grill basket in my grill, so it doesn't go in my kitchen cabinet making a mess. I own the Weber Performer 22.5 grill, and this basket takes up about 1/3 of my grill space. One of the best things too is when all the food is done cooking, I stack it all on the grill basket and take it inside. How convenient! ... show more

  • One of the best grill accessories you can use
Style: Basket
I recently bought a Masterbuilt electric grill. The HOA has banned the use of open flame grills (forest/mountain area). I had a Weber Spirit that I loved and had one of these vegetable baskets that I used with it. I probably wasn't thinking and ordered the large size to use with the Masterbuilt. Much to my surprise, it fits, covers nearly the entire grate on the Masterbuilt but that's okay. These baskets are great if you like any of these vegetables from the grill: peppers, asparagus, corn off the cob, tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower. My favorite is to put several of the mini red, yellow, orange peppers in it, about a half of head of broccoli, layered with tomato slices around those. Then I dump them in a bowl and eat it with whatever sauce I can find. By the way, you can still grill meats in this too. I used to grill salmon in the one I had with the Weber Spirt and it helps stop pieces of the flaky salmon from falling through the grates. We also found this basket helpful when grilling hot dogs with company who didn't like black/char on their hot dogs. Very versatile basket for grilling. ... show more

  • Great but a bit small
Style: Single
I took off one star because the bottom of the basket is a lot smaller than I thought even after carefully reading the directions. However, the basket itself is great! I have not had any issues with staining as other reviewers have mentioned. just make sure to spray oil on it before cooking. Vegetables, tofu, and shredded meats all cook beautifully and evenly in the basket. I chose a small grill basket because i was concerned about preserving space on my Q-100. That being said, this basket works so well that I always wish that I could fit more in it. So, if you are sure that this is big enough for your needs, definitely go with this basket. It holds enough veggies for 2. If you think you have enough space for something bigger, go for the next size up. ... show more

  • Works great for grilling small items
Style: Basket
It works great for grilling. This is especially helpful for vegetables and other things that you don't want falling through the grill rack. After one or two uses, it tarnishes and I didn't find a way to make it silver again. It doesn't seem to affect the function but good to be aware of this before purchase. (I'm also new to grilling so maybe this is normal.) ... show more

  • It works, just wish it was a bit larger
Style: Basket
I bought this because I was replacing a "non stick" grilling skillet that started to rust and flake. Things that I do like: The holes are in a shape that allows the heat to come through but the food doesn't fall through. Stainless steel is easy to clean and you can pretty much do anything to it and it won't hurt it. Things I don't like: The "fins" that make up the edge of the basket are a little too shallow. You can fix this by bending them up slightly. You can't pick it up with one hand. This can be cumbersome if you are trying to bring things inside. My suggestion would be to put it on a heat proof platter when you remove it from the grill, but that dirties up another dish. It's advertised as a "large" grill basket, but it's sort of small in my opinion. I cut up two onions, two bell peppers, and a smoked sausage and the basket was very full. I dropped several pieces in the grill while moving everything around. My old grilling skillet was much bigger and could hold everything. ... show more
